L.A. Noire is a hard-boiled detective game set in Los Angeles in 1947. Drawing on film noir, players control LAPD officer Cole Phelps through 21 cases, working his way up through the ranks of his department to solve a series of murder cases. Each case forms an independent section of the game, but there is an overarching story with recurring characters and Phelps' personal history during his service in the Second World War. He starts out as a patrol officer, but is then promoted to Traffic detective, Homicide, Vice and finally Arson investigator. With each promotion, a new partner and new locations become available.During a case, the game blends slower investigative elements with fast-paced sequences involving on-foot and car chases as well as shootouts. The focus is on story and character development, often featuring long cinematic sequences. Although the game offers plenty of freedom to explore by car and on foot, it can't be compared to Grand Theft Auto due to a number of limitations. As a detective, you cannot attack random civilians, and the use of weapons is only possible in certain sequences. In addition, each case is limited to a certain number of locations. The player can freely choose the order of investigation, but ultimately the game cannot progress until a satisfactory conclusion to the case has been reached. Alongside the main storyline, Phelps can take on optional side investigations via dispatch calls. When he arrives at the scene of a murder, he must search for clues that can be examined. The game signals clues through rumbling and a chime when Phelps passes near them, though these can also be turned off. Armed with evidence, the next step is usually to question witnesses and suspects. Characters' faces were animated using the MotionScan motion-capture technology, and the detailed realism of these recordings is used as a gameplay element. When talking to characters, it's not just the evidence that matters, but also their tone of voice and, above all, their facial expressions. Characters sometimes look away or have tics and expressions that can give away information. During an interrogation, the player must interpret these and then decide how to proceed with one of three options: Truth, Doubt or Lie. Depending on the choice, different paths and reactions open up. Failed action sequences can be replayed, but if the player keeps misreading the situation and the investigation stalls, the entire case has to be played through again. There are plenty of opportunities to correct mistakes and try a new approach, often even after examining clues. Each case takes about an hour. Depending on speed and correct intuition in solving cases, the player earns ranks that grant intuition points. These can be used to eliminate options during conversations when you're stuck.

In Need for Speed: SHIFT, the goal is to take part in the Need for Speed World Tour and become the ultimate champion. Unlike its predecessors, this instalment isn't about racing souped-up cars through an open city. Instead, the game is more akin to GRID, with races taking place on closed street circuits or even on famous racetracks such as the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.At the start of the game, the player drives both a test lap and a race. During this tutorial, the game assesses the player's skill and adjusts the realism settings accordingly, ranging from the usual arcade controls with plenty of driving aids to an almost realistic, simulation-like driving model. The main game then begins, in which the player must successfully collect stars to unlock the next tier and eventually gain access to the World Tour. Stars are earned by finishing on the podium at the end of a race or by completing certain objectives on the track. These range from simply reaching a certain number of points in the race to more demanding goals such as driving a clean lap. Points, in turn, are earned through the player's driving style, which is divided into two groups: precision and aggression. While the first group rewards clean sectors or driving the ideal line, aggression points are earned by ramming other cars or drifting through corners. Once the player has collected enough points (both categories are added together at the end of an event), they level up, unlocking new upgrades for their car, receiving a large cash bonus, or being invited to a special racing event. To motivate the player even further, tonnes of badges are waiting to be earned, some of which also correspond to the available achievements/trophies. Here too, actions such as 25 overtaking manoeuvres or three consecutive wins are required to earn a small badge. If the player keeps their streak going or has earned all the small badges in a category, they receive further badges ranging from bronze to epic.Available events include regular races in various formats, a time attack mode, a car attack mode in which the player must either be five seconds ahead of their opponent or finish in first place to win, and drift events. The fleet includes many licensed cars, from ordinary mid-range and premium vehicles to powerful racing cars, all of which can be bought with money earned from race wins or levelling up. The car's appearance can also be customised by unlocking new vinyls. Extensive upgrade and tuning options are also available, allowing the player to change every detail of their car, right down to tyre pressure. More

Blackhand Edition and The Don's Edition were developed in parallel and improve upon the original game.It features a revamped crew system, in which members accompany the player even after loading a game (which had hired a different crew). During missions, a 4-man hit squad can be called in, based on a meter that needs to be charged up.In addition to the Enforcer role from the original game, these versions offer an additional path as an Operator, which relies mainly on extorting the FBI, cops or families, portrayed as a mini-game. While the Enforcer destroys the other families through brute force, the Operator must gather dirt on them. This can be used by talking to the police chiefs of the five districts to raise the bribery meter to the maximum, eventually allowing the player to take control of the police in the area and fight alongside their family members. The police can also arrest other characters. The Operator's special abilities include improved and regenerating health, reduced prices for bribing the FBI and police, increased damage and improved crew health, calling in the hit squad twice as often, and instant kills by planting car bombs. In addition to the 20 regular missions, this edition includes 10 new ones, including a new rival family, rooftop battles, new favours and various forms of extortion and bribery. The motion-based controls are supported by SIXAXIS (PS3) and, to a greater extent, by the Nunchuk and Wiimote (Wii) during combat and for execution moves such as chokeholds, headbutts, throws, swinging bats, jabs and throwing Molotov cocktails. The PS3 edition includes 2 locations not found in the other versions: a cargo ship and a rail yard with additional missions.

Dynasty Warriors 8 is the eighth instalment in the long-running Dynasty Warriors series from Koei. It follows the tradition of adapting Luo Guanzhong's Romance of the Three Kingdoms. As in Dynasty Warriors 7, each of the clans Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin introduced in the previous game has its own story mode. In each phase, four characters are available to choose from, rather than a predetermined character. Whilst the story largely follows historical events, some optional objectives can be completed to unlock a branching hypothetical chain of events. Additionally, each of the characters from the "Other" factions has its own story mode.Dynasty Warriors 8 introduces several new playable characters, some of whom return from earlier Dynasty Warriors games or, like Zuo Ci, from Warriors Orochi, bringing the total available characters to over 82.In addition to Story Mode and Free Mode, Ambition Mode is introduced. The goal is to build a social support base for the people of the kingdom, which will be visited by the Emperor. This tower, called the Tonquetai Tower, must be improved through various events, skirmishes, raids and major battles, with each event affecting the tower's growth in different ways.

F1 2012 is a Formula 1 racing game from the series by Codemasters and is based on the 2012 season. The game includes all twelve teams and twenty-four drivers who competed in the 2012 season (with the exception of mid-season changes), as well as the twenty racetracks and Grands Prix - including the brand-new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The Grand Prix mode from previous games, which allowed players to play a season as one of the real drivers, has been removed in favour of several improvements to the career mode. In addition, new game modes have been added. Champions mode challenges the player to complete various scenarios, which usually involve finishing ahead of one of the former F1 world champions, while the Young Driver Test works like a tutorial for new players, featuring a series of videos and tests. Also new is the Season Challenge mode, a shorter, fast-paced career in which the player can frequently switch to a different car manufacturer by taking on rivals. Qualifying sessions are now optionally shorter with the new One-Shot Qualifying mode, in which only the first lap counts towards grid position.

The sequel to Juiced offers the player a deeper insight into the culture of car tuning and drifting and allows him to immerse himself in the authentic music used at the events, as well as the female models displayed alongside the cars.Players can also participate in a variety of events, from drifting, where players earn points and nitrous oxide the longer they take their car around the corner, to racing for pinks, where cars are put on the line and the winner keeps the loser's car, and even the classic simple race to the finish line. There is also a career mode in which the player progresses through closed courses, unlike the original where the player had to avoid traffic, while this version conveys a more organised feel. There are authentic exotics, European, Old Muscle and New Muscle cars to choose from, including hundreds of real racing parts that give him thousands of customisation options, even with the possibility to design stickers and logos for his cars. You can also hire and fire crews to work on the cars and compete against real drivers and their crews who are represented in the game. Races take place all over the world, from England to San Francisco, even in Australia and in the famous Colosseum in Rome. Each version is almost identical, with the exception of the graphics, which depend on the respective capabilities of the system, and the track layout, which is slightly different in the Xbox 360 version. In the PSP version, the Paris track is missing.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 is the sequel to the open-world racing game Test Drive Unlimited. It is set on two islands: Ibiza and Oahu (the Hawaiian island that was also the setting of the first game). Oahu only becomes accessible after reaching level 10, after which the airport becomes reachable. There are 60 levels in total (up to level 70 with the optional Casino DLC), reached by earning experience points in one of the following categories: Discovery (driving all roads and routes, finding all hidden car wrecks, photographing certain locations) Collection (buying cars and houses, decorating them with furniture and stickers, buying clothes, having cosmetic surgery done) Competition (racing against others, both AI and real players, completing challenges) Social (making friends, joining clubs). You start out as a parking valet, dreaming of getting a luxury car for your birthday, until you're rudely woken up by the rich girl whose car you were actually supposed to fetch. She then decides to hire you to drive her to a studio she needs to reach very soon, and if you do well, you can take part in a racing competition called Solar Crown. To take part in the competition, you of course first need to earn a licence by attending a driving school and completing a series of tasks and tests to prove you're worthy. Once you've obtained the licence, you can explore the first island. You can earn further licences to take part in other competitions. Licences and races come in various classes – for example, an A licence grants access to asphalt challenges, B is for off-road, and C is for classic. Each class is further split into subclasses, e.g. 5, 6, 7, low, high, and so on. To take part in the challenges and championships, you need to buy a car from the relevant class. The player's vehicle is fitted with what's known as an F.R.I.M. device (Free Ride Instant Money), which lets you earn money that can be used to buy cars, houses, upgrades, clothes and more. Close overtaking and/or high speeds, jumps, drifts and other "dangerous" driving manoeuvres fill up a reward bar, which you can cash in once it reaches a certain amount, or leave to build up an even bigger payout – at the risk of losing everything if you hit something and crash. Cash can also be earned by completing races and challenges. Single-player challenges include driving someone prone to car sickness home by driving carefully and not "jolting" the car too much; driving a (luxury) car into a garage for a lazy owner; following someone's car at a discreet distance; driving someone around who wants you to stay above a certain speed; and driving someone around who wants you to drive dangerously to get their adrenaline pumping. A weather system and a day/night cycle affect the amount of traffic on the road and your grip; in rain or puddles, you'll skid in corners. In offline mode, a few AI drivers roam around and can challenge you to a quick race (for a stake of $1,000 plus experience points), while in online mode you can do the same against real opponents. You can also team up in several co-op challenges. The game also features AI police officers who can pull you over if they see you run a red light, drive against traffic, or cause an accident. A "traffic violation" indicator appears on your screen. It disappears again after a while, unless you break the law again while the bar is displayed. Then the police will chase you, and you'll have to pay a fine if they catch you. Sometimes the police may call you on your phone to join a joint chase. If you accept, you get to drive a police car to chase down a traffic offender. The game features several difficulty settings that affect, for example, the amount of assistance you receive while driving, manual or automatic transmission, and an ideal line projected onto the road during certain challenges. Some cars are harder to drive than others, and you can test-drive them at the car dealerships you gradually discover on the islands. There are also tuners who can upgrade cars, and sticker shops where you can design a custom car.

The sixth major instalment in the Gran Turismo simulation series offers new tyre and suspension physics, over 30 tracks and more than 1200 cars to drive. New special events and features have been added to this game, such as Vision GT, in which car manufacturers collaborate with Polyphony Digital to virtually unveil their futuristic concepts. In this instalment, the player gets to drive the Apollo 15 Lunar Roving Vehicle on the Moon.

Assassin's Creed III for the PS3, which differs from the Wii U, Windows and Xbox 360 versions as it was bundled with additional content. It includes: Assassin's Creed III (base game) Assassin's Creed III: Benedict Arnold (DLC) Retail versions included a code to download the DLC. Digital download versions had it bundled directly with the main game. At launch, there was no standard version of the game for PS3 without the DLC. For retail versions, the download was only free until 31 March 2013. Eventually, the game was re-released as a download version that included only the base game, with the DLC available as an additional purchase.

Untamed features some of the classic features as well as some new ones. There are 250cc and 550cc motorbikes and four ATV models, but also monster trucks, off-road dune buggies and trophy trucks.Players can perform crazy stunts and compete against each other in six different race series (Supercross, Nationals, Opencross, Supermoto, Freestyle and Rally) or in X-Cross, a tournament that combines all the series, and sponsorship money can also be earned: good performances reward the player with better motorbikes. There's also the Crash Camera, a super slow-motion shot of crashes and spills, similar to MotorStorm.A few minigames are also included, such as ATV Hockey, Monster Truck Smash and Tag, to name just a few. Online mode lets the player compete against other opponents. The gameplay is very similar to the console systems, and specific buttons for gas, brakes and the Wii Remote can also be used. The DS and PSP versions are almost identical. While the DS version has only a few vehicles and only one championship mode, unlike the many series in the major console versions, it includes ten exclusive tracks and three stadiums. The PSP version is fairly similar, but has different series compared to the console versions: Race, One on One, Time Attack, Stunt Challenge, Stunt Race, Hang-Time, Combo Challenge, Flag Challenge. There's also the X-Cross tournament, but it's called MX vs. ATV World Tour instead. The games can be played over Wi-Fi against friends.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is an open-world racing game that returns to the concept of the 2005 Need for Speed: Most Wanted and, following 2010's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, is the second title in the long-running series developed by Criterion Studios. The game is set in the fictional city of Fairhaven, which the player can freely explore by car. It's a busy, urban setting with a city centre surrounded by port areas and industrial parks – a departure from the scenic routes of Need for Speed: The Run the year before. The game focuses on an aggressive racing style in which you weave through traffic at high speed, but retains many simulation elements compared to the more arcade-heavy Burnout series with its takedowns.Unlike the original game, there is no story. The player simply races to become the Most Wanted on the Speed Wall. The blacklist from the original Most Wanted (renamed the "Most Wanted List") returns with ten rivals to beat in order to get their car. Taking part in races earns SpeedPoints, which can be used to upgrade vehicles through modifications for boosts, gearbox, engine, bodywork (also for breaking through roadblocks), suspension and tyres. They are also collected by hitting obstacles such as billboards (with distance records), speed cameras (also with records), security gates and other obstacles. SpeedPoints lead to a SpeedLevel with over 70 different rankings, based on the number of points collected. Reaching a new SpeedLevel is rewarded with new cars, licence plates, and the unlocking of Most Wanted races. Licence plates are also earned as a kind of "achievement" through various challenges. They allow players to customise a licence plate with a custom 8-character inscription, and each plate has a different design and frame. There are also Knocking Brothers repair shops the car can drive through to be repaired, repainted and have its nitrous refilled. Vehicles can also be earned by finding jack spots. Many locations have parked cars that can be swapped for the current vehicle. Almost all cars are available from the start (as soon as they are found in the city) and come from licensed manufacturers, including muscle cars, sports cars and more exotic prototypes. Car configurations can be saved in profiles, which can be changed in-game (and on Xbox 360 also via Kinect voice recognition) to suit specific situations. Many options can be activated directly while driving without opening a menu, such as entering multiplayer mode, selecting races, or switching vehicles. This system is called EasyDrive mode and is similar to the one in Burnout Paradise. The three main race types are sprint races, where the goal is to reach a destination first by taking shortcuts and ramming other cars, circuit races with several laps, and speed runs, where a route must be completed at the highest possible speed. Pursuit mode is triggered by ramming or overtaking an FCPD police unit at high speed, either during a race or in normal free-roam play. Each pursuit is rated with a dynamic heat level system from one to six, which determines the number and type of vehicles, roadblocks and tactics used by the police units. To shake them off, you must lose visual contact, shown on the minimap by a large circle. The cooldown must be maintained until the heat level drops to zero. If spotted again, the pursuit continues. Police vehicles can be shaken off or disabled. Ambush is a similar game mode in which the police must be evaded within a set time. Events are limited to five per car to encourage players to explore the entire garage of vehicles. Winning an event always offers two reward tiers – one for second place and one for winning.Autolog, originally introduced in Hot Pursuit and used in every NFS game since, returns as a social system for comparing save data, progress, achievements and records with friends and other players. Progress is tracked on a Speed Wall, where other players can leave comments. The system can also be used to share photos and is integrated into gameplay rather than being an external menu. This game also introduces CloudCompete as a cross-platform system that lets you transfer data from one platform version to another, for example to import Speed Points.Multiplayer offers various game modes such as solo and team races with additional rewards and modifications. There is a persistent scoring system and a global leaderboard. The available game modes can cycle randomly to keep things varied. Switching from single-player to multiplayer mode and back is seamless and can happen while driving, without needing to open a menu. The number of simultaneous players is 12 for PC, 8 for PS3 and Xbox 360, and 4 for PS Vita. Apart from the lower number of players in multiplayer mode and a slight downgrade in graphics, the Vita version is identical to the other platforms.

17 invitations were sent out for the fifth edition of the World Fighting Tournament. 15 fighters return and two new faces appear in the arena: the young girl Eileen, who uses monkey kung fu, and the lucha libre wrestler El Blaze. The participants have no idea that the organising body J6, which is financing the tournament, has prepared a new Dural fighting programme. In the previous game, their first version was defeated and the organisation kidnapped Vanessa. She managed to escape, but her fighting data was recorded and used to develop V-Dural. With the new tournament, J6 wants to unmask the insider who helped Vanessa escape and test their new programme against the world's best fighters. The general gameplay of one-on-one arena combat remains intact, but there are a few changes. The ranking system has been overhauled, throw speed has been reduced and there is a new offensive move that allows fighters to evade each other and execute more strategic attacks. The new clash system can be used to interrupt an attack with a throw. This edition also features deeper character customisation.

Killzone 2 is the third game in the Killzone series and continues the story two years after the events of the first two games. The game takes place on Helghan, the homeworld of the Helghast, who attacked the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance colony on Vekta. The ISA retaliates on Helghan territory with the goal of securing the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bringing the Helghast war machine to a standstill. Take on the role of Sergeant Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko, a battle-hardened veteran and member of the special unit Legion. Under his command, players lead a group of highly skilled soldiers on a mission to eliminate the Helghast threat. The gameplay consists of what the developers call Hollywood realism, focusing on scripted, cinematic gameplay. The game is played entirely from a first-person perspective, except for sections featuring vehicle combat with a tank and an exoskeleton. A large part is devoted to finding cover and peeking out from behind objects to open fire. Besides the single-player campaign, there's a squad-based multiplayer mode called Warzone featuring five different mission types (Assassination, Search & Retrieve, Search & Destroy, Bodycount, and Capture & Hold), based on seven class types. Up to 32 players are supported, with bots added to fill the remaining slots.

All your favourite NARUTO ninjas defy time and face off in the greatest ninja war of all time! Four hundred years have passed since the Grey Wardens successfully prevented the last Blight. Now the terrifying Darkspawn are gathering once more under the rule of the Archdemon, and are poised to invade the land of Ferelden. The first battlefield: the ruined town of Ostagar, where the Grey Wardens meet the army of Cailan, King of Ferelden, to try to stop the Darkspawn and prevent death and destruction before it has even begun. But during the battle, General Loghain's forces inexplicably withdraw from the field. As a result, the Grey Wardens, the King and most of the human warriors are killed. Among the few survivors is the hero, who had joined the Grey Wardens shortly before the battle and must now find a way to unite the races of Ferelden against their common enemy.Dragon Age: Origins is a party-based role-playing game played from a third-person perspective. Similar to Baldur's Gate, combat takes place in real time and can be paused at any moment. Tactical options include an editor that lets the player give the AI detailed instructions on how to behave in any given situation. Even so, the player can also control the party (with up to four active fighters) one at a time, switching between characters and using their special talents and abilities to defeat the many different enemies. Over the course of the game, the player has the opportunity to invite up to nine companions to their party. While only four people can leave the party camp at a time, the experience points gained from killing enemies, completing quests or simply opening a chest are credited to every member of the group. With each level-up, a character receives three attribute points and one talent point. The talent point is used to unlock new spells and abilities in the extensive talent tree, which differs greatly between the three available classes: Warrior, Rogue and Mage. Every three levels, the character also receives a skill point, which lets them learn or improve herbalism or improve their survival skills. In addition, characters receive a specialisation point at levels 7 and 14, which lets them learn two of four class specialisations, such as Shapeshifter and Spirit Healer for the Mage class. These specialisations grant instant bonuses to certain attributes and unlock five exclusive talents. However, to learn such a specialisation, it must first be unlocked. This happens either by purchasing the relevant book from merchants or by learning it from another character, whether a non-playable character or a party member. Not everyone is willing to teach the protagonist right from the start. In particular, the player's party members must have a certain level of trust and approval. Approval can range from -100 to +100 and is strongly influenced by the decisions the player makes during the game. Talking to and giving gifts to party members also increases their approval. A high level of approval then grants the party member a bonus to certain attributes and unlocks additional quests as they open up and share their past. Furthermore, it's possible to pursue a romance with up to two party members, provided the player character is the right gender and makes the right dialogue choices.Although the main part of the game is the same for every character created, differing only in what the player does first or which decisions they make, the game features six unique prologues (called "Origin Stories" in the game) – two for each race, except for humans, who share the origin story of mages with the elves. They all tell the story of how the player's character met the Grey Warden Duncan and ended up in the Battle of Ostagar. The console versions lack the tactical overhead view available in the PC version. The controls are designed to make it easier to control a single character and let the AI handle the rest of the party, in contrast to the PC version, where the entire party can be controlled more easily. In addition, the default difficulty level is lower on consoles than on PC.

This version of FIFA 12 is designed for touch-based mobile devices. In addition to single matches, it offers four basic game modes: Leagues, Cups, Training Arena and Penalty Shootout. There are thirty leagues and twenty-one cups to compete in. In both leagues and cups, the player can choose whether to play the matches themselves or simulate them. There are some team management options. The player can select a formation and starting line-up, as well as kickers and team styles. Team styles include, for example, playing on the counter-attack, zonal marking and overlapping full-backs. The iOS version of the game also features a manager career mode, which is not available in the Android version. In addition to these game modes, there are also daily challenges, where the player enters a match at a specific point and must complete a task, such as scoring a goal from a free kick. The game is played entirely with touch controls. A directional pad is used to move the players, and three context-sensitive buttons are used for actions. On offence, these are sprint, pass and shoot, while on defence they are slide, switch and sprint tackle. For simple manoeuvres, the player simply taps the buttons, but for more complex actions, it is possible to swipe across the buttons. For example, to perform a finesse shot, the player presses the pass button and then swipes upward. Other actions that can be performed by swiping include chips, crosses and through balls. In addition to the buttons, there are a few other ways to perform actions. A skill move can be performed by double-tapping the screen, while forward runs for players without the ball can be made by swiping across the pitch. It is also possible to play passes by tapping the player who should receive the ball. The iPad version of the game offers the option of using one or two iPhones as controllers via a Bluetooth connection. For this to work, the player must download a separate app for the iPhone.

Dante's Inferno is an action-packed journey through the world of the Inferno, based on the first canto of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. In this adaptation, Dante is reimagined as a Templar Knight, a veteran of the Crusades who returns home to find that his beloved Beatrice has been killed. At this moment, the murderer also stabs Dante in the back. However, Dante manages to resist Death, who wants to take him to Hell, and steals his scythe from him. With these new powers, he descends alone into the Inferno to track down Beatrice, whose soul has been captured by the Devil. Lucifer plans to marry her soul, which should instead have gone to Heaven, in order to escape Hell and overthrow God. To prevent this, Dante must travel through the nine circles of Hell and defeat their demons before finally facing his hardest trial. In keeping with the original Inferno theme of recognising and rejecting sin, he must confront his own past, his own crimes and his own sins in order to free Beatrice. On his journey, he often encounters the poet Virgil, who explains the various circles to him and, in flashbacks, shows how Dante sinned in each circle during the Crusades. The gameplay largely resembles that of the God of War games. Dante's weapon of choice is a scythe, and he wields magic through a holy cross he carries, given to him by his beloved Beatrice shortly before her death. This magical item emits beams of light that kill any evil it touches. Dante can even tame some demonic beasts and use them for his own purposes. However, players must choose between a holy and an unholy path. When Dante grabs enemies or encounters captive characters (including a large number of historical figures), he can punish or absolve them. Each choice is rewarded with unholy or holy experience points respectively. This allows Dante to level up in one of two tech trees and spend the souls collected there. It's not possible to maximise both sides, so a particular path must be chosen. The unholy side focuses on the scythe's powers, while the holy side focuses on the cross.New abilities can be acquired with each level. On the unholy path, most of these focus on stronger scythe attacks, while the holy path focuses on the cross's ranged abilities. There are also general abilities, such as increasing the health or mana bar, extending the Absolution meter, or providing extra defence against attacks. Dante has several combo attacks. He can dodge, block and counter, attack from the air, grab and throw enemies, and perform acrobatic stunts, such as sliding down large spikes, hanging and swinging from ropes, or clinging to certain walls. These stunts are often used to solve minor environmental puzzles. Fighting enemies also fills an Absolution meter, which can be activated when full, allowing for faster movement and attack speed. During his journey, he'll also master four powerful forms of magic, which can likewise be upgraded through the tech tree and require a separate mana meter to perform. The currency used to buy new abilities is the souls of the enemies he defeats. Souls are collected automatically when enemies are killed, and both health and mana are mostly restored via shrines. Many major battles feature Quick Time Events (QTEs), where the player must press the correct buttons on cue to defeat a large enemy. These also appear as a mini-game when you need to absolve the souls of important characters. One final way to expand his abilities is through relics. These are collected during the journey and fitted into a limited number of slots (initially two). They provide additional support, such as resistance to magic, boosted attacks, or regeneration of health and mana. By equipping them, relics can be levelled up twice to make them more effective. Since the number of slots is limited, they often need to be swapped depending on the situation. After completing the game, a new game mode called the Gates of Hell Arena is unlocked. This is an arena in which the player must defeat various waves of enemies, similar to the arena later introduced in the DLC "Dante's Inferno: Trials of St. Lucia".The PSP version is not a port, but was developed in parallel with the main console versions. The enemies and general level design are identical, and only a few minor features were cut, such as the puzzle mini-game for releasing condemned souls.

The 2008 edition of the long-running EA FIFA football series improves the gameplay and features of the previous instalments. The next-gen version marks the series' second regular appearance on Xbox 360 and its first on PS3. Compared to the previous year, the game now includes the full list of teams and leagues, just as in other versions: 620 licensed teams, 30 national leagues, plus the Hyundai A-League (Australia), the Czech Gambrinus Liga (Czech Republic) and the FAI Premier Division (Ireland). As usual, the leagues have been updated with new teams, and prominent footballing nations (England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) have multiple divisions. There are also 23 clubs from around the world that aren't represented in specific leagues.Gameplay changes include a reworked shot simulation, in which factors such as position, defence, speed, jumping ability and direction all play a role. This continues the dynamic shot meter from the previous version, where positioning and a shot power meter deliver powerful long-range shots. There is also more focus on through balls, smoother animations and skill moves, reworked crowd, celebration and stadium animations, as well as a redesigned tackling system. Alongside the familiar modes, "Be A Pro" is introduced, in which players take control of a single, fixed player on the pitch. It's not a career mode, but mainly an alternative way to play the matches. Online multiplayer options allow players to form a team of independently controlled players, with 10 human-controlled players in a single match at once. The camera is adjusted for this mode to keep the respective player, as well as the overall action, in focus at all times. There are also the recurring interactive online leagues, featuring complete national leagues against other players on EA servers. The game also includes the tools to set up independent multiplayer matches and organise tournaments.FIFA Soccer 08 features licensed music tracks from around the world. Brazilian player Ronaldinho is the face of this version, and was replaced by prominent national players only for certain localised versions, particularly for European countries.
