Quantum Break is a third-person action game with cover-shooter mechanics. The game's protagonist is Jack Joyce, and it begins in media res at the fictional Riverport University in the north-eastern United States. He is there with his gifted brother William Joyce, who works as a physicist at the university. They are experimenting with time travel, and right at the start of the game it turns out the experiments have gone wrong. They also cause stutters that disrupt the flow of time in the everyday environment. Jack must flee the facility with his brother as soldiers arrive and try to cover up the disaster. His brother is soon kidnapped, and Jack, with the help of a woman named Beth Wilder whom he meets early on, searches for a way to find him again. Jack and Paul Serene, who is introduced later, both gain different time-manipulation abilities through the experiments. They are initially best friends, but their powers drive them in different directions. Unlike Jack, Paul has a premonition and can foresee the future. He wants to get rid of Jack and Beth so he can exploit the powers alone. The game consists of five major acts, in which the player controls the protagonist, Joyce. Between these five acts there are four episodes in which the game follows the antagonist, Serene. These are presented as four episodes of a live-action TV series, each around 20 minutes long. They are watched, not played, but there are interactive parts. At the start of an episode there are "junctions" where important decisions can be made that influence what happens next and lead to a branching story. Likewise, certain discoveries and decisions in the acts influence the story in minor ways through "quantum ripples", so the TV episodes don't form a fixed, identical sequence for every player. In the acts, Joyce has to shoot his way through the levels. The opposition consists mainly of soldiers working for Monarch Solutions, a company founded by Serene, who hunt Joyce on his behalf. He can carry up to three different firearms, such as pistols, shotguns and machine guns, each with its own ammo type. However, ammo is limited, which encourages players to use the many time-manipulation abilities or shoot explosive elements in the environment to take out enemies quickly. Weapons can also be picked up from killed enemies. Taking cover happens seamlessly when near a cover point, simply by moving, and moving out of cover works the same way, without using an extra key or button. From cover, it's possible to shoot around or over it and quickly pop back in.Gradually, various time-centred abilities become available. These focus mainly on defence and improved mobility and don't turn the main character into a superhero who is no longer vulnerable. In the later parts of the game, enemies appear who also have time powers or who are much harder to take out, such as snipers. Joyce starts with Time Dodge, to move a few metres quickly. Others include Time Vision as a radar pulse to detect enemies through walls and highlight objects in different colours, keep targets in view, find glowing chronon sources, and locate places where time can be rewound. Time Stop sends out a wave that briefly stops enemies and bullets caught within it. Time Shield creates a temporary shield around Joyce that deflects bullets and damages nearby enemies. Time Blast and Time Rush are offensive moves. "Blast" sends out a ball of energy that damages enemies and knocks them back, while "Rush" propels Joyce forward quickly as an enhanced version of "Time Dodge" and offers the chance for a melee attack. Except for Shield, all of these can be used while moving, and each has its own cooldown timer, so many of them can be used one after another as a combination of movement and attacks. The abilities can be upgraded throughout the game by collecting chronon particles at chronon sources. Not all parts of the gameplay revolve around shooting. There are also time stutters that function as puzzle sequences. These sequences resemble mazes in which everything is frozen in time. During this time, an ability can be used to revert parts of the environment to an earlier state, creating a path forward, as a kind of environment-based puzzle-solving. There are also many collectibles to find within the acts, such as documents, computers and media, which provide further pieces of the story. There is cross-save functionality between the two platforms.

The story of Ryse centres on Marius Titus, who tells Emperor Nero about his life, beginning with the murder of his family by barbarian bandits and his subsequent quest for revenge while serving in the Roman army.During the game, the player takes control of Marius in third-person perspective as he fights barbarians and gives orders to fellow Roman soldiers. Fitting the setting, combat is sword-based and focuses on reflex-based quick-time events (QTEs).Ryse's multiplayer mode is called Gladiator: Blood Brothers mode, a co-op mode in which several players take on gladiators in the Colosseum. The more progress and experience points players make, the more gold they earn, which they can spend on elixirs, weapons and armour for their multiplayer characters. Players can also create their own challenges.

The mining ship USG Ishimura sends a distress signal to the Concordance Extraction Corporation during a mining operation on the planet Aegis VII. Another ship is dispatched to investigate the cause of the signal; however, as it attempts to dock with the Ishimura, a system malfunction causes it to collide with the vessel. The crew is attacked by terrifying monsters. Only three people survive, including an engineer named Isaac Clarke. It looks as though the ship can barely sustain itself, as many of its systems are badly damaged. Isaac is the only one who knows how to repair them, and his two companions send him on a mission to find a way to restore things to normal and uncover the truth behind the horrifying events.Dead Space is a third-person sci-fi shooter with survival horror elements. The player controls Isaac, explores the ship and fights reanimated corpses known as Necromorphs. Combat is heavily based on so-called “strategic dismemberment”, which forces the player to cut off the Necromorphs' limbs or body parts in order to defeat them. Damaging a specific part of a Necromorph's body can allow the player to kill it, change its attack patterns, or even make it more dangerous. Many of the weapons in the game are improvised mining tools, such as a circular saw, a plasma cutter, a hydrazine torch used as a flamethrower, and others. All weapons have a secondary firing mode; for example, the plasma cutter can be rotated to cut vertical limbs more efficiently. Isaac can also use special abilities that let him slow down enemies or pick up and throw objects from a distance. In some sections of the game, Isaac floats in a zero-gravity environment. Ammunition and tools can be found while exploring or purchased at automated stores on the ship. Workbenches can be used to upgrade Isaac's weapons and armour.

Iolcos is a small island in the Aegean. Protected by those who worship Zeus, it is an idyllic place with nothing to worry about. At least until the wedding day of King Jason and his future queen Alcmene, to which many dignitaries from all over the world travelled – including Jason's long-time friend Heracles. But instead of celebrating the event with them, the Moriens had other plans, stormed the palace and killed Alcmene during the ceremony. Now Jason is furious and seeks revenge. But the journey is long and in the end he must face a dark prophecy. The player steps into Jason's sandals, watches his back and controls him in traditional action-adventure fashion, similar to games like Rune (only without jumping), as he roams the land, talks to the inhabitants and always keeps their wishes in sight of his main goal. Of course, with Jason it's not just about walking and talking. He has many enemies who want his death, but three different types of weapons (swords, clubs and spears) as well as his trusty shield ensure he can defend himself. Jason can quickly switch between all weapons at the push of a button and thus perform powerful combos by combining the normal attack with the stronger, more brutal executioner's move. Some of them have special abilities, such as striking down all surrounding enemies activated by a two-button combination. But Jason also has many friends. Besides Heracles, other mythical heroes accompany him on his journey and help him in battle. When Jason is near them, they also gain strength and unleash powerful special abilities. If a companion dies, Jason can revive them, and if Jason is too badly damaged, he just needs to get out of the line of fire for a few seconds to regenerate.Jason also does not rely solely on his muscles, but is additionally supported by four gods – Apollo, Athena, Ares and Hermes. Each god gives Jason access to a different skill tree with many different types of buffs and abilities waiting to be unlocked. This happens in two ways: one way to gain the favour of the gods is to talk to people and select the appropriate answers for the god whose favour the player seeks. But at the same time, Jason accomplishes more or less automatically acts during his journey such as killing 35 people (Manslayer IV), which he can then credit to a god of his choice. Once a certain favour amount has been reached, an aspect point is available for distribution in the skill tree of that particular god.

F1 2002 features the new Formula 1 teams from Toyota and Renault, all 17 tracks including Monaco, Malaysia and Indianapolis, and all the superstar drivers including Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Juan Pablo Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve.Although the graphics are a bit rough, you'll love the thrill and challenge of F1 racing. Fortunately, excellent tutorials make mastering the finer points of F1 driving fun. The tutorials are disguised as a series of challenges that unlock various tracks, teaching you deceptively simple skills like starting off, braking and cornering. These serve as building blocks for later, more demanding tasks, such as driving in the rain or a pit stop with an oil leak.F1 2002 also offers various multiplayer modes for up to four players. All tracks are open for multiplayer races from the start. In split-screen races, the textures are flat and dull, but you'll be so busy staying on track while insulting your friends that you probably won't notice.EA Sports' F1 2002 is a gripping simulation that will appeal to both racing game fans looking for a new challenge and F1 fans alike.

After many years being owned and developed by Eidos/Silicon Dreams, EA releases the official Champions League game for the 2004/2005 season. The latest revision of the engine, first introduced in FIFA 2003, carries over most gameplay elements from the 2005 edition, but includes some gameplay changes, such as slightly more aggressive attacking AI (reducing the need to constantly push players forward with the off-the-ball button, while ball control remains as before), new refereeing aspects such as occasional deliberate mistakes (like the odd bad offside or throw-in call, without the referee's errors actually cheating the player), the advantage rule and handballs, as well as a new set-piece system that replaces the much-criticised "targeting" and "push and shove" from the 2005 edition. This system is far less rigid and formulaic, since a directional arrow and power bars determine how crosses are played, and there are four movement configurations for the players, which makes every indirect free kick and corner play out differently. On direct free kicks, players can choose to take precise or curled shots, or lay off a pass to a nearby player to probe a gap in the defence. All options are available at any time and aren't determined by the distance to goal. Many of these changes were later carried over into the new FIFA 06 engine, which was also chosen as the match engine for the later FIFA Manager from Bright Future. The presentation is modelled on real TV broadcasts, with goals, fouls and shot attempts summarised not only in the highlight reel, but also during stoppages and in picture-in-picture pop-ups. Since the game is presented in a false letterbox format, statistics are occasionally shown alongside the scoreline, letting you keep track of certain objectives. A highly requested feature, the ability to see the stamina bars of the players from both teams closest to the ball, was finally added, as were icons for the special abilities (pace, shooting, dribbling or tackling) of the best players. The Champions League, in which the player leads a team to the final at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul to succeed FC Porto as European champions, is one of the available modes, but not the main one. That honour belongs to the "The Season" mode, in which the player first creates their manager avatar and then works through a series of 50 missions, starting with a tight match the previous week against a Champions League rival, followed by a club takeover and rising expectations, and (hopefully) ending with the Champions League final. In this mode, players can also unlock additional features such as balls, a stadium and special exhibition modes by meeting objectives set by the club president during the season. Some of these are decisive matches (failure at which can lead to being sacked), while others are simply about balancing the squad. Other modes include the usual friendlies, "Home and Away" (a two-player friendly), scenarios (in which the player can create situations, such as two players defending a 1-0 lead for 45 minutes) and training.

After his father is murdered by a mysterious Chinese man named Lan Di, Ryo Hazuki vows to avenge his death. After a fruitless search for Lan Di in Yokosuka, Ryo is contacted by Chen Yao Wen, a Chinese master, who advises him to travel to Hong Kong and seek out Master Lishao Tao, who may be the only one who knows what happened between Lan Di and Ryo's father in the past. Ryo arrives in Hong Kong and sets out to find a man who represents his only link to the elusive murderer.Shenmue II is a direct sequel to Shenmue and continues its story. The game's structure and basic gameplay elements are similar to those of the first game, blending adventure, combat and light role-playing elements into a life-simulation experience. Ryo explores vast 3D environments, talks to people to gather clues, and occasionally takes part in combat sequences. As in the previous game, Ryo can train to become stronger in battles and gradually learns new moves, which forms the game's role-playing element. The game's environments are based on real locations in Hong Kong. The game world is significantly larger than that of its predecessor. The game also has a somewhat more linear plot with numerous precise objectives, although free-form exploration is possible for most of the game. Earning money plays a more important role, and many objectives are based on Ryo having to take on part-time jobs (most of which resemble action mini-games) or take part in fights to win money. As in the first game, Ryo can visit arcades and play exact recreations of older arcade games, such as OutRun.The sequel involves more characters in the story. Some of them also accompany Ryo on his journey and help him in fights or other dangerous situations. The game also noticeably increases the number of Quick Time Events (QTEs). Several sequences consist entirely of cutscenes in which the player must quickly press button combinations to perform the correct action. Many major fights in the game also feature extensive QTE segments, which often serve as the climax of the battle. The Xbox version of the game includes an additional DVD called Shenmue: The Movie, which contains a recap of the first Shenmue turned into a feature-length film.

It all begins with a simple contract that Rios and Salem received upon their arrival in Shanghai. Then the city is suddenly attacked by a mysterious force called the "40th Day Initiative". On their way out, they may also have the opportunity to rescue hostages that the Initiative has selected for elimination. The weapon customisation interface is also back, with more weapon parts, paint jobs and add-ons that allow for diverse tactical possibilities on the battlefield.Mercenaries have no rules of engagement, but they have values. Throughout the story, several cooperative decisions must be made. It's up to the players to decide whether they want to rescue innocents on their way out of Shanghai or whether they're only interested in the money...Additionally, a new, revised multiplayer mode is available that allows up to 10 players to fight simultaneously. 4 different modes are available: Partner Deathmatch, Warzone, Control and Extraction.

The perfect killer, Agent 47, tries to distance himself from his violent past and becomes a humble church gardener. But he is lured back into his old profession when his friend, a priest, is kidnapped by an Italian mafioso. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is a third-person stealth game. As the titular killer, you must complete a series of missions around the world. Each mission generally revolves around assassinating someone and possibly achieving a few other objectives.Your target is usually protected by numerous guards. Although you have a huge arsenal of weapons at your disposal – from stealth weapons like a garrotte or a silenced pistol to machine guns and sniper rifles – your main weapon will be stealth itself. Agent 47 can sneak around to remain undetected, and he can disguise himself in the clothes of guards he has killed or knocked out. However, the guards are not completely stupid, as they investigate and react to suspicious noises when they see you brandishing a weapon. They become suspicious if they see you wandering around, raise the alarm if they find a body, and if you stay disguised near them for too long, they will eventually realise you are not one of their friends.Hitman 2: Silent Assassin brings something new to the series: depending on your stealth, you receive a rating after completing a mission. If you go in guns blazing at everyone, you are labelled a "Mass Murderer", while only the most patient and skilled players earn the "Silent Assassin" rating, which generally involves eliminating the target covertly without arousing suspicion.

The 2008 edition of the long-running EA FIFA football series improves the gameplay and features of previous instalments. The next-gen version marks the series' second regular outing on Xbox 360 and its first on PS3. Compared to the previous year, the game now includes the full list of teams and leagues, just like other versions: 620 licensed teams, 30 national leagues, plus the Hyundai A-League (Australia), the Czech Gambrinus Liga (Czech Republic) and the FAI Premier Division (Ireland). As usual, the leagues have been updated with new teams, and prominent football nations (England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) have multiple divisions. There are also 23 clubs from around the world that aren't represented in specific leagues.Gameplay changes include a revamped shot simulation, factoring in position, defence, speed, jumping ability and direction. This continues the dynamic shot meter from the previous version, where positioning and a power meter provide powerful long-distance shots. There's also more focus on through balls, smoother animations and skill moves, revamped crowd, celebration and stadium animations, and a redesigned tackling system. Alongside the familiar modes, “Be A Pro” is introduced, where players take control of a single, fixed player on the pitch. This isn't a career mode, but mainly an alternative way to play the games. Online multiplayer options let players form a team of independently controlled players, with 10 human-controlled players at once in a single match. The camera is adjusted for this mode to keep both the respective player and the action in focus at all times. There are also the recurring interactive online leagues with full national leagues against other players on EA's servers. The game also features tools for setting up independent multiplayer matches and organising tournaments.FIFA Soccer 08 features licensed music tracks from around the world. Brazilian player Ronaldinho is the face of this version, and was replaced by prominent national players only for certain localised versions, particularly the European countries.

Need For Speed: Underground is the seventh game in the long-running Need For Speed racing series. The game revolves around illegal night-time street racing with heavily modified import cars and was strongly influenced by the film "The Fast And The Furious" and its sequel. Players get the chance to build their own race machine almost from the ground up, with hundreds of genuine licensed parts and many licensed cars, including the Mazda RX-7 and the Nissan Skyline GT-R. The game also features over 100 single-player races and a hip-hop/hard rock soundtrack with artists such as Mystikal, Rob Zombie and The Crystal Method.

FIFA 13 on PlayStation 2 does not have the same features as other console versions; it still uses the FIFA 07 engine and features new commentary from Andy Townsend (Clive Tyldesley's commentary remains the same as in FIFA 07). The only new updates are the latest transfers for each club and updated kits.Game modes include Kick Off (a simple friendly match), Be a Pro/Be a Keeper mode where you can play as an individual footballer or goalkeeper, and Career mode where you can be a manager, player/manager, or simply a player on a team. In Achievement mode you must win trophies/scenarios to unlock Fan Shop points (in the Fan Shop you can unlock new stadiums, teams, footballs and alternate kits). There are also regular Season and Tournament modes as well as a Practice mode.

As the game's title makes very clear, the notorious quarrelsome worms are winding themselves in full 3D for the first time. The goal of the game has not changed in the slightest compared to its predecessors: the goal is still to destroy, annihilate and consign the enemy worm team to oblivion with extremely crazy destruction weapons. Almost all features of its original 2D ancestors are also present, including random wind and a completely destructible landscape. Not all weapons that were previously available made it into the three-dimensional world, but Worms 3D also has a range of selected new weapons such as the Lottery Strike or the Gas Grenade, which should allow you to find a couple of dozen new ways to kill your fellow worms online.

The Sims 3, like its predecessors, is a real-time simulation game in which the player controls the life of one or more people in a family, including their work life and social activities. To do this, the player creates one or more characters at the start of the game on the character creation screen, which has been further expanded since The Sims 2. In addition to more choices regarding appearance, clothing, colours and so on, the player also selects five personality traits from a set of 63, sorted into the four groups “Mental”, “Physical”, “Social” and “Lifestyle”, as well as a lifetime wish. The personality traits influence how the Sim reacts to every event in the game. The “Workaholic” trait, for example, means the Sim enjoys going to work and allows them to use a computer at home to schedule extra hours. The lifetime wish, on the other hand, is similar to regular wishes, but requires a lot of work to achieve. While fulfilling wishes can be as simple as ordering a pizza, a player’s lifetime wish to make their Sim the CEO of a major company won’t happen overnight. As a trade-off, fulfilling a lifetime wish grants the player a very large amount of lifetime happiness points, unlike regular wishes. These lifetime happiness points are used to purchase numerous forms of relief, including the ability to make the Sim immune to hunger. This allows the player to focus less on meeting a Sim’s basic needs and more on improving their skills and building relationships with neighbours, colleagues and other people in town. The six needs themselves are the same as before, including fun, hygiene and hunger.Unlike its predecessors, the game is not limited to a Sim’s own property, with loading times in between when travelling to other locations, such as family holiday destinations. Instead, The Sims 3 now simulates an entire town in which the player’s Sim can move around freely and do as they please, including working and socialising, but also buying groceries or books and attending classes to further improve their personal skills. However, not every building can be seen from the inside. While the gym works like a normal house, with the option to remove the walls and look inside, the Sim simply enters other locations, including the workplace, the bookshop and the hospital, and disappears until their business there is done. The only influence the player can have in the case of the workplace is how their Sim should do their job. Should they work through their lunch break, befriend the boss, or chat with their colleagues, and so on? All of this affects both their happiness and their work performance, and once their work performance reaches a certain level, they get promoted, which comes with a higher salary and sometimes different working hours. During their visits, the Sim can also collect rocks, gems, metals, insects, butterflies and seeds to use in their garden as decoration or jewellery. If they get really bored, they can even go fishing at one of the lakes or rivers. With the money a Sim earns at the start of and throughout the game, they either buy a pre-built lot or build/expand their own house from scratch, including all the interior design. This time, items can even be placed at a 45° angle. The console versions introduce Karma Powers, which give players god-like powers to influence their Sims’ lives for better or worse.
