Description
The story of Ryse centres on Marius Titus, who tells Emperor Nero about his life, beginning with the murder of his family by barbarian bandits and his subsequent quest for revenge while serving in the Roman army.
During the game, the player takes control of Marius in third-person perspective as he fights barbarians and gives orders to fellow Roman soldiers. Fitting the setting, combat is sword-based and focuses on reflex-based quick-time events (QTEs).
Ryse's multiplayer mode is called Gladiator: Blood Brothers mode, a co-op mode in which several players take on gladiators in the Colosseum. The more progress and experience points players make, the more gold they earn, which they can spend on elixirs, weapons and armour for their multiplayer characters. Players can also create their own challenges.
