Description
Boyd Travers is part of the 82nd Airborne Division. As a small part of a larger operation, he must complete several missions in Italy, France, the Netherlands and Germany. He fights alongside AI comrades for the liberation of Europe.
All missions begin with a jump from a plane after a brief briefing and the option to change your initial weapon loadout. The parachute jump gives you a little freedom in choosing your starting point. There's also always a specific area where you receive a bonus if you land there successfully. During these missions, anti-aircraft weapons must be destroyed, fellow soldiers rescued, and enemy tanks taken out with bazookas. To give you more equipment choices, you not only gain access to enemy weapons but can also benefit from earned upgrades. You receive an upgrade when you achieve exceptional feats of heroism and accuracy. For example, this means you get an upgrade if you kill three enemies in quick succession. These upgrades include a larger magazine for the German K98 or a grip for the Thompson submachine gun to make it more accurate.
The health system is also noteworthy. Boyd has four pips of health. If an enemy hits you but doesn't empty a whole pip, your health regenerates until the pip is full again. If you lose a pip, you must pick up a health pack to regain it.
In addition to the single-player campaign, three multiplayer modes are also available for up to 12 players, called Team Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch Airborne and Objective, in which the Axis and Allied teams face off. While Team Deathmatch is fairly standard, Team Deathmatch Airborne offers a new twist. In this mode, the Allies parachute onto the map from an airdrop, while the Axis powers start on the ground. In Objective, the goal is to capture all three flags on the map.
