Description
F1 2012 is a Formula 1 racing game from the series by Codemasters and is based on the 2012 season. The game includes all twelve teams and twenty-four drivers who competed in the 2012 season (with the exception of mid-season changes), as well as the twenty racetracks and Grands Prix - including the brand-new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
The Grand Prix mode from previous games, which allowed players to play a season as one of the real drivers, has been removed in favour of several improvements to the career mode. In addition, new game modes have been added. Champions mode challenges the player to complete various scenarios, which usually involve finishing ahead of one of the former F1 world champions, while the Young Driver Test works like a tutorial for new players, featuring a series of videos and tests. Also new is the Season Challenge mode, a shorter, fast-paced career in which the player can frequently switch to a different car manufacturer by taking on rivals. Qualifying sessions are now optionally shorter with the new One-Shot Qualifying mode, in which only the first lap counts towards grid position.
