Description
Burnout Dominator is part of the Burnout series for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable systems.
The game focuses mainly on the returning Burnout mechanic - using up an entire boost meter without stopping, last seen in Burnout 2: Point of Impact (2004). With the return of the Burnout mechanic, four new game modes were added, including:
Maniac Mode - Players have to drive dangerously to achieve the highest score by pulling off drifts, air time, oncoming traffic and near misses. Chaining Burnouts in this mode increases the score multiplier.
Drift Challenge - Players have to rack up as many metres of drift as possible. Chaining Burnouts also increases the score multiplier here.
Near Miss Challenge - Similar to Drift Challenge, but the player has to earn Near Miss bonuses.
Burnout Challenge - Similar to Drift Challenge, but the focus is on achieving Burnouts.
Some options were removed from the game - Burnout Dominator, for example, doesn't have Crash Mode, and there's also no traffic control mode or online multiplayer. The PSP version offers Burnout HQ, where the player can upload save data and download new tracks.
The game consists of 12 different tracks set in 8 different real-world locations. Each track has a forward and a reverse configuration.
