Benni Bärenstark is called Benoit Brisefer in the French original (which roughly means "Benedict Ironbreaker") and was already causing mischief on the German comic market back in the 1970s, at that time as Winnie in the weekly Fix und Foxi comic booklets. The super-strong Benni loses his superpowers whenever he has a cold - and that usually happens at the worst possible moment! His creator is the Belgian comic artist Peyo (Pierre Culliford), who also created the Smurfs in 1958.
