Description

Perry unser Mann im All #88

Comic: Perry #88
Language: German
Publisher: Moewig Comics
Year: 1972
Condition: 2 (Two) Good

Perry #87 is a classic science fiction comic from the Moewig publishing house, based on the successful novel series Perry Rhodan. The comic is in good used condition.

The comic series Perry was published by Moewig between 1968 and 1975, running for a total of 129 issues. This science fiction comic was the publisher's comic adaptation and, after Perry Rhodan im Bild (1967-1968), the second attempt to bring the famous novel series into the comic medium. The series had the casual and reassuring subtitle Unser Mann im All (Our Man in Space) and soon developed into a flashy and colourful pop art comic that attracted young adults more than children. The artistic design was handled by the Italian graphic studio Giolitti, and most of the drawings were straightforward copies from a wide range of American comic books of the time. Panels from Marvel Comics in particular were shamelessly copied, above all by John Buscema, whose drawings repeatedly served as templates. Nevertheless, the series Perry has its own very special charm, especially because it is a typical phenomenon of its time and, as such, still comes across as lovingly nostalgic today. Most of the cover illustrations were created by Moewig's in-house artist Johnny Bruck (1921-1995), who also shaped the visual style of the source material - the novel series Perry Rhodan. For sales-strategic reasons, the publisher apparently found it important to maintain at least a visual unity at the newsstands.
