Benni Bärenstark is called Benoit Brisefer in the French original (which roughly means "Benedict Ironbreaker") and was already causing mischief on the German comic market back in the 1970s, then still known as Winnie in the weekly Fix und Foxi comic magazines. The super-strong Benni loses his superpowers whenever he has a cold - and this usually happens at the most inconvenient moment! His creator is the Belgian comic artist Peyo (Pierre Culliford), who also created the Smurfs in 1958.
