Perry unser Mann im All #81
Comic: Perry #81Language: German
Publisher: Moewig Comics
Year: 1971
Condition: 2 (Two) Good
Perry #81 is a classic science fiction comic from Moewig publishing house, based on the successful novel series Perry Rhodan. The cover and back cover were done by Johnny Bruck, who also shaped the visual style of the novel series with his covers. The comic is in good used condition.
The comic series Perry was published by Moewig between 1968 and 1975, running to a total of 129 issues. This science fiction comic was the publisher's comic adaptation and, after Perry Rhodan im Bild (1967-1968), the second attempt to bring the famous novel series into the comic medium. The series had the casual, confidence-inspiring subtitle Our Man in Space and soon developed into a flashy, colourful pop-art comic that attracted young adults more than children. The artistic design was handled by the Italian graphic studio Giolitti, and most of the drawings were simple copies from various American comic books of the time. Panels from Marvel Comics in particular were shamelessly copied, above all those by John Buscema, whose drawings repeatedly served as templates. Nevertheless, the series Perry has its own very special charm, especially because it is a typical product of its time and, as such, still comes across today as lovingly nostalgic. Most of the covers were designed by Moewig's in-house artist Johnny Bruck (1921-1995), who also shaped the visual style of the source material - the novel series Perry Rhodan. For sales-strategy reasons, the publisher apparently found it important to maintain at least a visual unity at the newsstands.
