Perry unser Mann im All #82
Comic: Perry #82Language: German
Publisher: Moewig Comics
Year: 1971
Condition: 2 (Two) Good
Perry #82 is a classic science fiction comic from the Moewig publishing house, based on the successful pulp novel series Perry Rhodan. The cover and back cover are by Johnny Bruck, who also shaped the pulp novel series with his cover artwork. The comic is in good used condition with a small tear at the bottom of the spine.
The comic series Perry was published by Moewig between 1968 and 1975, running for a total of 129 issues. This science fiction comic was the publisher's comic adaptation and, after Perry Rhodan im Bild (1967-1968), the second attempt to bring the famous pulp novel source material into the comic medium. The series carried the breezy and reassuring subtitle Unser Mann im All (Our Man in Space) and soon developed into a flashy, colourful pop-art comic that appealed more to young adults than to children. The artwork was produced by the Italian graphic studio Giolitti, and most of the drawings were straightforward copies from a wide variety of American comic books of the time. Panels from Marvel Comics in particular were shamelessly copied, above all those by John Buscema, whose drawings were repeatedly used as templates. Nonetheless, the series Perry has its own very special charm, not least because it is such a typical product of its era and, as such, still has a lovingly nostalgic appeal today. Most of the covers were created by Moewig's house artist Johnny Bruck (1921-1995), who also shaped the visual identity of the source material, the pulp novel series Perry Rhodan. For sales-strategy reasons, the publisher was apparently keen to maintain at least a visual unity between the two at the newsstands.
