Perry unser Mann im All #89
Comic: Perry #89Language: German
Publisher: Moewig Comics
Year: 1972
Condition: 2-3 (Two to three) Fine
Perry #89 is a classic science fiction comic from Moewig publishing house, based on the successful novella series Perry Rhodan. The comic is in a used condition.
The comic series Perry was published by Moewig between 1968 and 1975, running for a total of 129 issues. This science fiction comic was the publisher's comic adaptation and, after Perry Rhodan im Bild (1967-1968), the second attempt to transfer the famous novella source material into the comic medium. The series carried the breezy, reassuring subtitle Unser Mann im All (Our Man in Space) and soon developed into a garish, colourful pop-art comic that appealed more to young adults than children. The artwork was produced by the Italian graphic studio Giolitti, and most of the drawings were simple copies from a wide range of American comic books of the era. Panels from Marvel Comics in particular were shamelessly copied, most notably those of John Buscema, whose drawings repeatedly served as templates. Nonetheless, the series Perry has its own very special charm, especially because it is such a typical product of its time and, as such, still comes across today as lovingly nostalgic. Most of the cover art was created by Moewig's in-house artist Johnny Bruck (1921-1995), who also shaped the visual style of the source material - the novella series Perry Rhodan. For sales strategy reasons, the publisher apparently placed great importance on maintaining at least a visual unity on the newsstands.
