Perry Our Man in Space #92
Comic: Perry #92Language: German
Publisher: Moewig Comics
Year: 1972
Condition: 1 (One) Very Good
Perry #92 is a classic science fiction comic from Moewig publishing house, based on the successful novella series Perry Rhodan. The comic is in a very well-preserved condition.
The comic series Perry was published by Moewig between 1968 and 1975, running for a total of 129 issues. This science fiction comic was the publisher's comic adaptation and, after Perry Rhodan im Bild (1967-1968), the second attempt to bring the famous novella source material into the comic medium. The series had the casual and trust-inspiring subtitle Our Man in Space and soon developed into a garish and colourful pop-art comic that attracted young adults more than children. The artwork was handled by the Italian graphic studio Giolitti, and the majority of the drawings were simple copies from a wide variety of American comic books of that era. Panels from Marvel Comics in particular were shamelessly copied, above all those of John Buscema, whose drawings repeatedly served as templates. Nevertheless, the series Perry has its own very particular charm, especially because it is a typical product of its time and, as such, still comes across as lovingly nostalgic today. Most of the covers were designed by Moewig's in-house artist Johnny Bruck (1921-1995), who also visually defined the source material - the novella series Perry Rhodan. For sales strategy reasons, it was apparently important to the publisher to maintain at least a visual unity on the magazine racks.
