Steep is an open-world winter sports game built around four extreme sports: paragliding, skiing, snowboarding and wingsuit flying. The game launched with one mountain in the Alps to explore, though a further set in Alaska was later added for free. The player can freely explore the environment and roam around. It's possible to switch to any of the four sports at any time and continue on from there. There's no linear path to follow, but progress on a higher difficulty level is possible by unlocking base camps, spotting drop zones, and gaining access to new challenges by levelling up. The player can access a bird's-eye mountain view at any time to quickly switch between locations or challenges. Earlier routes can be revisited, there are replays, and it's possible to design and share challenges for other players. Players can also appear in each other's worlds and be invited to fly or ski together. Each sport has different controls and possibilities. It's possible to perform a large number of stunts, mainly while skiing and snowboarding. Different types of challenges focus on fast times, high scores through tricks, or exploration. In wingsuit flying, the focus is on dodging obstacles and staying close to the ground to score points. In paragliding, it's more about finding the best course to reach checkpoints. Most of these are specific to a particular sport, such as Big Air, forest slaloms or proximity flying. While a character can't die, there is a health system based on sustained G-forces, and recovering from a fall takes some time.In most challenges, up to three medals can be earned, and they can be repeated as many times as you like. Alongside overall player progress and the new spots this unlocks, a large amount of gear is gradually made available to customise the various characters. Overall progression takes place across six categories, depending on play style: Bone Collector, Explorer, Extreme Rider, Freerider, Freestyler and Pro Rider. Besides challenges, drop zones and points of interest, the player can also experience mountain stories and events known as unforgettable moments.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an action role-playing game. It is set between J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. You play as Talion, a Ranger of Gondor who guards the Black Gate. Talion and his family are killed by Sauron's armies under the command of the Black Hand, but Talion becomes possessed by a mysterious spirit and is transported to Mordor. His goal is to avenge his family and uncover the spirit's identity.Shadow of Mordor is an open-world game in which you can explore Mordor and complete side quests. The game combines elements of the Assassin's Creed series in terms of freely roaming the world with those of the Batman: Arkham series in terms of the combat system, featuring complex combinations of attack and defence moves as well as finishers. The game uses a Nemesis system that remembers Talion's interactions with enemies and adjusts their behaviour at a later point. For example, a defeated orc may want revenge on Talion by humiliating him in a similar way and bearing the scars of the previous fight. The Nemesis system also spawns the bodyguards, captains and warchiefs of Sauron's armies. They have their own hierarchy and become stronger, and rise through the ranks, if they succeed in killing you. Captains who manage to defeat Talion gain strength and are promoted, and over time they become a serious challenge and a personal vendetta. Although there are many combat sequences, a high degree of stealth is recommended in order to avoid overwhelming confrontations until many new weapons and abilities offer greater reach for fighting large groups. Captains can be killed permanently (usually by beheading them with a finisher), or you can let them return at a later point via a regular kill. It is also possible to brand enemies, which brings them under your influence. This way, you can exert control over them and have them fight at your side, but since it applies to every level of the orc hierarchy, it can also be used to influence the system from within. You can order a captain to kill his fellow captains and help find their replacement. The player can develop Talion's abilities both as a Ranger and as a Wraith. Ranger abilities improve stealth and make it easier to move through the world unnoticed, while Wraith abilities allow him to influence the minds of enemies, for example to gain information about captains and to sow unrest within enemy ranks. This information reveals, for example, the immunities or weaknesses of certain captains, giving you an advantage in an upcoming fight. The later Xbox 360 and PS3 versions feature reduced graphics. The depth and variety of the Nemesis AI system were also significantly reduced. In terms of content, it is largely identical.

The Evil Within is an action-survival horror game inspired by the Resident Evil series, featuring a grimy look with exaggerated blood. The player controls detective Sebastian Castellanos, who is called to the scene of several murders at Beacon Mental Hospital along with his partners Joseph Oda and Julie Kidman. When they arrive, they find all the police cars abandoned, and almost everyone has been brutally killed. While reviewing security footage, he spots a hooded man named Ruvik. In the next moment, the man is behind him, and Castellanos passes out. He wakes up in a world he doesn't recognise, held captive in the basement of a huge man wielding a chainsaw. After escaping, he investigates what happened across sixteen chapters in various locations. As a survival horror game, Castellanos is often outnumbered, enemies are strong and supplies are scarce. Many confrontations can and should be avoided by sneaking. Enemies have an awareness level and can be lured away by throwing a bottle. Eye icons indicate when an enemy is nearby or has been alerted. A lantern is used to light up dark areas. There are environment-based puzzle elements involving items and notes, and small stone statues can be destroyed to find keys for opening lockers containing items. Castellanos can engage in melee combat and uses standard weapons such as a revolver and a shotgun, as well as grenades. Once the Agony Crossbow is discovered, numerous ways to take out enemies open up, such as freezing or poisoning them, or crafting harpoons or shock traps to stun them. Health can be restored using a limited number of syringes, and matches burn defeated enemies, killing them permanently. The camera hovers close behind Castellanos. Many level sections offer multiple routes, with the option to sneak silently or hide. While exploring, jars of green gel can be collected, which serve as upgrade points. Looking into a mirror transports Castellanos, in his mind, to an asylum. There, the game can be saved, and there's a chair he can sit in to upgrade weapons and abilities across up to five levels. Points can be spent to upgrade weapons with a damage multiplier, a faster fire rate, a shorter reload time, a larger magazine capacity, improved accuracy or a greater chance of critical hits. They can also create more room for ammo or items, or be used to improve physical abilities, such as more health, longer sprint time, more melee damage or greater syringe recovery. There are traps and bombs scattered throughout the environment that can be defused to obtain trap parts, which are used to craft crossbow ammo. Traps can also be strategically placed to limit the number of directions from which enemies can attack. Enemies include animals, standard “Haunted” enemies and a range of grotesque creatures. There are also boss fights. There are three difficulty levels.

F1 2015 is an annual instalment of Codemasters' officially FIA-licensed Formula 1 racing series. The game includes all drivers, cars and tracks from the 2015 season, as well as all of those from the 2014 season. It runs on a new version of the game engine with improvements to the physics models. As in previous instalments, track temperature affects car performance. There's also a new, improved weather system. The game supports voice commands via the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One's voice recognition to interact with race engineers during the race. You can ask questions about the race, the status of the vehicle, or the weather forecast. There are five game modes: Quick Race, Time Trial, Season Championship, Pro Season and Multiplayer. In Quick Race, you choose any driver and any track and can change the difficulty and race settings. In Time Trial, you choose any car and any track to record lap times, which are compared on a global online leaderboard. In Season Championship, you choose any driver from the 2014 or 2015 season to take part in a full season of the Formula 1 Drivers' and Constructors' Championship. Pro Season is similar, but in this mode there's an on-screen HUD, no driving aids, and the AI difficulty is fixed at the maximum level. In Multiplayer, you can compete in online races against other players. The game does not include a career mode.

Wolfenstein: The New Order marks the return of one of the oldest first-person shooter series, Wolfenstein 3D, once again putting the player in the role of Polish-American soldier William "B.J." Blazkowicz. The game begins in 1946, as Blazkowicz hunts his arch-enemy General Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse, well aware that the Nazi war machine would be crippled if he could kill Deathshead. However, his plans fail and Blazkowicz is fatally wounded and falls into a partial coma. He is rescued by a Polish fishing boat and taken to an asylum in Poland, where he is cared for by a nurse named Anya for 14 years. When he finally wakes up and rescues Anya from the Nazis' purge of the asylum, he soon learns that the war is over, the Nazis have won, and are bringing the entire world under their rule. Deathshead played a major role in this victory, having designed vicious biomechanical beasts and giant robots to gain superiority on the battlefield, while also bombarding the United States with atomic bombs until it finally surrendered. Blazkowicz arms himself once more and sets out to reignite the flames of rebellion by freeing his friends from the Kreisau Circle and toppling the Nazi regime! As with previous entries in the series, the game is a fast-paced and violent first-person shooter with a few minor stealth and exploration elements. Players can carry multiple weapons at once, and these weapons can even be dual-wielded. Weapons range from traditional ones such as knives, pistols and shotguns, but later in the game there is also more exotic equipment such as electricity-spewing grenades, lasers, bladed weapons and more. You also receive a useful tool called the Laser Cutter, which you can use to break through chains, fences and the like to gain access to alternative paths and secret items and areas.Players fight numerous Nazi soldiers of varying strength, some wearing power armour, others even biomechanical, blending flesh with technology. There are also biomechanical German Shepherds acting as guard dogs, which can sneak up on the player and try to tear out their throat. In addition, there are larger robot dogs that are extremely fast, agile and dangerous. Players have the option of taking a stealthy approach and silently killing enemies with suppressed weapons and knives, which can be used for brutal attacks from behind or thrown at enemies from a distance.Sometimes you'll be notified about a Nazi officer in the area. If you hunt him down and kill him quietly, areas on the player's map become visible. The game features a perk tree, whose level rises depending on challenges completed in the game, e.g. by silently killing 10 enemies with throwing knives to gain extra knife slots, or by killing multiple enemies while your health is overcharged (above 100%) to unlock a perk where killing enemies grants small health boosts. These perks come in various categories (assault, demolition, stealth and tactics) and are based on the playstyle chosen by the player. As in previous games in the series, you'll also need to collect secrets here. These include items that can give you a complete map of the area, notes and letters with background stories, Enigma codes that unlock special game modes, as well as Nazi gold and treasures.

In the kingdom of Lothric, pilgrims embark on the journey towards certain death ... And then the fire fades. The Lords of Cinder, fallen heroes once linked to the First Flame, are now missing. And it falls to a lone Unkindled to hunt them down and return them to their thrones at Firelink Shrine ...Dark Souls III is the fourth instalment in the Souls series (with Demon's Souls being the series' spiritual predecessor). There are many references to previous entries scattered throughout the game, such as familiar NPCs, well-known locations and items, and so on.The gameplay stays true to the series (particularly the first Dark Souls game), even though it shows clear influences from Bloodborne. The player begins the game by selecting one of the 10 available classes and can customise the character's appearance to their liking. The pace of play is noticeably faster than in the first Dark Souls game, although not as fast as in Bloodborne — there is still a need to block and dodge deliberately while waiting for the chance to counterattack. There is also the usual selection of weapons and armour on offer, allowing for very high replay value. The level design also stays true to the series, with several interconnected paths and secrets scattered throughout. The covenant system is back, along with the multiplayer mode, in which players can interact via invasions and co-op in the same way as before. One of the game's new additions is the Weapon Arts system. This mechanic allows the player to adopt a specific stance for each of the weapons found in the game and trigger a special move with them by spending FP (which is also used to cast magic, as in Demon's Souls). This new system adds depth to the game and paves the way for even more varied character builds.

Until Dawn is a horror survival game in which equal emphasis is placed on horror and survival. It borrows gameplay elements from other film-like games that let your choices branch the story and change events, such as Heavy Rain (2010), and story elements from teen horror slasher films like “Scream” (1996).The story begins at the mountain lodge, as a group of friends play a prank on Hannah during a rather intimate moment. Embarrassed and angry, she storms out into the snow and heads into the woods. When her twin sister Beth finds out what happened, she rushes after her to find her. She does so, only to discover that someone else is out there with them. The mysterious figure catches up, and what happens next is up to the player. Beth and Hannah's bodies were never found and they are considered missing. The police never closed the case.A year after this incident, eight friends decide, at Josh's request, to reunite at the same mountain lodge. Since Josh was the brother who had lost both his sisters, and a close friend, the others were unable to turn down his invitation. In memory of Hannah and Beth, to catch up, and perhaps to enjoy the romantic mountain retreat. What begins with good intentions soon turns into screaming, bloodshed and impossible choices, as the eight of them fight for the survival of someone, or something. The story switches from one character to another, so that over the course of the game the player controls most of them, and depending on the situation is very often accompanied by another character. During the game, the player can take the time to look around and search for clues, or simply remain unaware and push the story forward. Everything has consequences, and searching for clues will keep you better informed and, in turn, increase your chances of survival. Clues that can be found are related in particular to three things... the twin sisters Hannah and Beth, the incident in 1952, and the mysterious man who might be somewhere on the mountain with all of you.By picking up objects and clues, you can rotate them for a more detailed view, similar to how it was done in L.A. Noire (2011). In addition, pieces of totem poles are scattered around, giving a brief glimpse of possible things yet to come and serving as a warning. Totem poles are divided into five categories: those that indicate your death, those that try to guide you, those that indicate the loss of your friend, those that alert you to danger, and those that are fortune tellers. By collecting the totems, you unlock clips from a video that tells of events from the past. The video can also be watched incomplete; it simply jumps to the unlocked parts of the full presentation. The choices in the game are represented in the form of a butterfly effect. Your choices, your decisions, or your indecision will shape the story and constantly branch it into one of the many different paths and conclusions. You can review the list of your choices and see your butterfly effect in the main menu. There, the most important decisions you made over the course of the game are shown, along with what they in turn triggered. You can check your character traits at any time during the game, which are also defined by your choices. Things like honesty, bravery, curiosity and so on. In addition, you can see the affection bar between your current character and the other protagonists.Besides Hannah and Beth in the prologue, the protagonists of the game are the following eight people:Ashley – curious and academic, a good friend of ChrisChris – humorous and methodical, a good friend of AshleyEmily – Mike's ex, currently with MattJessica – Mike's girlfriend, doesn't get on with EmilyJosh – the brother of Beth and HannahMatt – Emily's boyfriendMike – Emily's ex, currently with JessicaSam – the one who tried to warn Hannah about the prank

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst is a reimagining of the 2008 game Mirror's Edge. It takes place in a futuristic setting known as the “City of Glass”. The dystopian city is ruled by a conglomerate that has turned its citizens into mindless slaves chasing status and wealth. Faith Connors, the same protagonist from the first game, is one of the people living off the Grid, the vast network system that connects (and spies on) everything and everyone. She works as a Runner, roaming the city's rooftops as both a courier and a burglar. Runners had been tolerated by the conglomerate and its K-Sec security forces for a few decades, but that soon changes at the start of the game. It begins the moment Faith is released from prison and returns to her Runner friends, though flashbacks also reveal her past, what happened to her family, and how she got mixed up with various people. Why she was in prison is soon explained — she has to repay a debt to gang boss Dogen. During a heist at K-Sec headquarters, she ignores orders and steals a hard drive that upsets the fragile balance in place, and soon K-Sec cracks down hard on the Runners, trying to recover the drive. With the help of Runners, the militant organisation Black November, and other characters, she soon learns of a sinister project called Reflection that threatens to completely transform Glass and its citizens — unless Faith can stop it.Just like the original, it relies heavily on parkour movement to explore the city, escape, find entrances, and take down or disarm enemies. Moves such as jumping, sliding, climbing, balancing, wall-running, swinging, rolling, diving through windows, using zip lines and a grappling-hook-like MAG Rope, as well as kicking down doors, can be quickly chained together. Certain areas can be revisited with upgrades, such as the MAG Rope, to reach places that were previously inaccessible. As in the first title, elements in the environment glow bright red to indicate they can be used when Runner's Vision is activated, and emit a pulse. Optionally, these markers can be made less noticeable or removed entirely. Enemies can be targeted with melee attacks, always with the goal of taking them out as quickly as possible.Punches and kicks have different effects depending on your movement speed, and running at top speed builds up a kind of shield that makes Faith largely invulnerable as long as she keeps moving at that speed. Kicks and punches can be aimed in a specific direction, for example to knock guards off buildings or into each other. Weapons can no longer be used, since they're now tied to their owner via biometric data. What's completely new in this game is that the city has been turned into an open world that can be explored in any direction, rather than a series of linear levels. While there's a main story path to follow, there are also plenty of side missions and jobs you can pursue freely. There's also a large map on which waypoints can be set to move around quickly.By completing missions, Faith earns experience, which is eventually converted into upgrade points. These can be spent on movement, combat and gear, improving her abilities through separate skill trees for each category. New to this game is that not all moves are available from the start — some, like the 180-degree turn, the double wall-run or a quick side-step, need to be unlocked gradually. The game features time-trial missions with leaderboards, where ghosts can be shared with friends so they can try to beat your score using the Social Play feature. It's also possible to design and share custom routes as challenges. Alongside regular missions based on movement and combat, there are new types of tasks called Grid Node puzzles. These are slower-paced than the others and focus on finding the right route through a busy environment, but also feature a laser security system that lets you use Faith's movements to slip past the security lasers. Most of these are optional missions used to unlock fast-travel points. Other missions involve deliveries, distraction missions (keeping K-Sec busy) and dash missions (a race against the clock). There are also five types of collectibles: documents, electronic parts, GridLeaks, secret stashes and surveillance recordings. Certain billboards can be hacked to display a selection of logos.

Dishonored 2 is the sequel to Dishonored and takes place around fifteen years after the events of the first game. That game had multiple endings, and this instalment picks up the story with the best outcome for the characters. Corvo Attano, once blamed for the murder of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin and the kidnapping of her daughter Emily, has had his name cleared and now serves as royal protector to Emily, the new empress of the fictional Empire of the Isles. She must deal with the Crown Killer, someone acting against her will who kills all her enemies and opponents, making it look as though she rules with an iron fist and undermining her authority. At the same time, early in the story she is deposed by Delilah Copperspoon, known chiefly from the first game's story DLC, who claims the throne and asserts that she is Jessamine's older sister. With the help of Luca Abele, Duke of Serkonos, she seizes power by force. The regime change is hostile, and the player must immediately choose between two protagonists, either Corvo or Emily, as the main character for the entire game. In the first game only Corvo was playable, and now there are two, each with their own supernatural abilities. These can also be entirely forgone by refusing the Outsider's help, and as with the first title the game can be approached as a pure action game with melee and ranged combat, as a pure stealth game, or as a mix of everything. Unlike the first game, there is no silent protagonist, as both characters have their own voice and speak throughout the game. Apart from a short section at the start, the game no longer takes place in Dunwall but in the coastal city of Karnaca, in the southern part of the Empire of the Isles. Its architecture, fashion and technology today draw on 19th-century European countries such as Greece, Italy and Spain. While the first game linked environments as hubs with loading times, Karnaca takes more of an open-world approach as a single environment, though the game still uses hubs as large sandbox environments for missions. There is a main quest to follow, but the character can also freely explore and discover many side quests or optional activities in any order. In total there are nine major missions, each usually with its own distinct environment, such as the Addermire Institute, the Clockwork Mansion or the Royal Conservatory. Besides the overall design, many of these locations also feature very different mechanics. A ship called the "Dreadful Whale" often transports the character between missions.Just like Corvo, Emily has access to the Outsider's Mark and can choose whether to use supernatural abilities or reject them entirely. Emily's abilities often focus on distraction, and they are Domino, to link the fate and actions of two or more characters, Doppelganger, to create a clone, Far Reach as a grappling hook, Mesmerize, to put enemies into a dream-like state, and Shadow Walk, to turn into smoke for stealth or to move through vents. Corvo's known abilities are Bend Time, Blink, Dark Vision, Devouring Swarm and Possession. Abilities can be upgraded, for example so that Corvo's Blink can pass through glass without breaking it, or Emily's Far Reach can snatch items harpoon-style. For stealth, it is possible to knock out, drag and throw enemies, it is possible to distract with sounds and alarms, and guards have an alertness meter based on sound, discovery, mutual alerting and sight. The rat plague from the original game is replaced by bloodflies. They can attack the character, but can also become a distraction. As more enemies are killed, more flies appear. To upgrade abilities, runes must be discovered or bought on black markets. The original title's bonecharm system returns, but in a new form. Players can now, once this power is unlocked, craft individual bonecharms that grant new powers as equippable items. Bonecharms can make certain actions invisible or invulnerable, or improve actions such as sprinting or swimming, or the regeneration of health or mana. Besides coins as the main currency, blueprints must be found to upgrade the arsenal, and there are paintings as optional collectibles. A chaos level is determined based on the character's aggressiveness and assassinations, which affects the outcome.
