Description
Sorcery is an action game that can only be played with the Move peripheral. The player controls the young apprentice Flinn, who was hired by the wizard Dash. The game begins when his master departs and Finn is left behind in the tower. Flinn can move freely in a 3D environment using the navigation controller, but level progression follows a linear path. On his journey he is supported by Erline, a talking cat. After picking up a wand in the tower, Flinn learns his first spell. When players flick the wand forward, Flinn casts an arcane bolt. The motion determines not only the direction but also the height and speed. It can also be flicked sideways to curve the bolt. Aiming isn't entirely free, as the game automatically uses a targeting system. Arcane bolt is his default spell, along with context-sensitive telekinesis, which is used to open doors, restore bridges and move obstacles by flicking sideways. In addition to spells, the Move controller is used to insert and turn keys, open doors and shake potions to activate them.

After the opening scenes, the game turns into an adventure about defending the homeland against the Nightmare Queen, who wants to shroud the land in darkness. Flinn travels through various regions of the fairy kingdoms and must defeat enemies. Along the way, he learns various spells (including the elements earth, ice, fire, wind and lightning), each with its own effect. The different spells are selected by holding down a button and drawing the corresponding gesture in the air. They can also be combined into hybrid attacks. Flinn can conjure a wall of fire and then shoot arcane bolts through it to create fireballs, or charge a whirlwind with lightning to create an electric storm. Most spells have an alternative use, where a sweeping motion deflects shots or sets traps. During combat, a single enemy is always targeted with the camera, which puts Flinn into a strafe mode and ignores the other enemies. The navigation controller is also used to centre the camera and perform a dodge move.

Another game element is the upgrade system. Flinn's abilities are improved through potions. Once you've found a potion bottle, you can use gold earned by defeating enemies to find or buy ingredients, combining three of them to make a potion. These improve mana, health and the effectiveness of spells, as well as additional humorous effects such as turning Finn into a rat. The brewing process is also carried out with motion controls that mimic shaking, stirring and grinding. More
