Description
International Cricket is one of the few NES titles released exclusively in Australia. It is the sister game to Aussie Rules Footy. The player can choose from eight teams: Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies. In addition, there is a hidden team called The Beam Team, in which each of the developer portraits is depicted from Sonic the Hedgehog. In the menu there are various game modes from which the player can choose. Quick Game starts a game and randomly selects a team for the player and the computer. Single Match is a regular exhibition game where the player selects their team and the computer's team. The World Series is the main part of the game, where the player selects a team and then competes against the other seven teams. The player can also choose the colour of their team. There is also a practice mode where the player can practise batting or bowling. There is also an options screen where the player can set the number of overs, turn the bowling screen on or off, turn music on or off, turn the bounce cross on or off, and make computer-controlled selections. Before the game, the player must flip a coin to decide who bats first and where to place his teammates. On the batting screen, the game is shown from a 3-person perspective, but after the ball is hit, the game switches to a bird's eye view. Each time a certain event occurs, an intermission sequence is played that depicts the event in question, such as Howzats, Out for a Duck and Bowled Him. The game was later ported to the SNES (under the title Super International Cricket), with gameplay changes. More
