Description
Folklore is an action game with some RPG-like customisation options. There are two main characters. One is a girl named Ellen, searching for the truth about her past. The other is a man named Keats, a journalist for an occult magazine investigating a possible murder case. The story is set in the present day.
Ellen (guided by a message from her dead mother) and Keats (following a desperate phone call) are drawn to an Irish village called Doolin, where it's said the living can meet the dead. As the game progresses, they travel to the underworld and encounter fairies and monsters known as the “Folks”.
In combat, Ellen and Keats can absorb the bodies of the Folks and gain new abilities they can use in battle. This is usually done through timed movements of the motion-sensing controller.
Four Folks can be assigned to the controller buttons, which makes the game fast-paced like an action game, with a certain degree of customisation. The player can choose whether to play Keats' story or Ellen's. There are seven realms, each based on a different concept of the afterlife.
