Days of Thunder - NES - EN

Tom Cruise's film made the NASCAR racing sport accessible to the masses, and with this licence Mindscape has done the same for players. If you mentally change the driver names, you can view the game more as a simulation of real NASCAR racing than as a direct adaptation of the film. You play Cruise's character Cole Trickle (his name, like many of the others, differs slightly from that of a real NASCAR driver of the time) against your rivals on 8 tracks modelled on real counterparts. The races all take place on ovals, though the exact lengths, types of curves and inclines vary. This means that the ideal line on one track can put you into the wall on another. Besides the actual races, there is also qualifying. From time to time you need to drive into the pit stop area. Here you control the five members of the pit crew. If you lose time in the pit stop, you lose positions in the race. However, the other drivers never go into the pit. The NES version only offers the 3rd-person perspective.
