2020 war das Jahr der Ratte, also mein Jahr. Ich bin 1960 im Jahr der Ratte geboren. Aber war es wirklich so? War es wirklich meinJahr? Es war ein ganz bizarres, irgendwie surreales Jahr, das ziemlich monoton und schnell verging, und doch sehr lange dauerte. Ich glaube jeder von uns wird sich noch lange an dieses seltsame Jahr erinnern.
Es begann ganz normal
Das Jahr begann zunächst ganz normal, die Vorboten des ominösen Virus waren zwar schon irgendwie da, aber es kümmerte niemanden. Doch das sollte sich sehr schnell ändern, und bereits Mitte Februar, als wir unsere dreiwöchige AMAZING Comicshow eröffneten, waren dunkle Wolken am Himmel.
Wir hatten Glück, und konnten die Show beenden, bevor der Lockdown alles dicht machte. Und dann kam auf einmal alles anders, als ich mir “mein” Jahr vorgestellt hatte. Nicht nur die finanziellen Probleme mussten gemeistert werden, auch der tägliche Arbeitsablauf musste an die Umstände angepasst werden, die auf einmal jedem aufgezwungen wurden.
Adapt or Perish
Der Mensch ist bekanntlich das Lebewesen auf der Erde, das sich am besten an wandelnde Lebensumstände anpassen kann. Und das mussten wir unter Beweis stellen. Da der Laden vorläufig geschlossen war, blieb als wichtigste Einnahmequelle der Online Shop, der dann auch langsam auf Touren kam.
Das hiess allerdings Mehrarbeit, eine wahre Paketflut kam auf uns zu. Die Arbeit ging mir also nicht aus, ausserdem nutzte ich die Zeit, um Comics, Actionfiguren und andere Items im Online Shop zu listen.
Frühjahrsputz
Gelegenheit für einen längst fälligen Frühjahrsputz hatte ich dann auch und brachte unser Ladenlokal auf Vordermann. Natürlich blieben auch die Schaufenster vor meinem Tatendrang nicht verschont. All die „Auffrischaktivitäten“, die lange vernachlässigt worden waren, konnte ich jetzt nach und nach erledigen.
Natürlich gehörte auch das Ausmisten dazu, und über einschlägige Online Plattformen verkaufte ich grössere Mengen an Papier, Comics und Science Fiction Taschenbücher. Und die Regale waren danach trotzdem immer noch berstend voll …
Auch nach dem Lockdown und den diversen Lockerungen wollte das Geschäft im Ladenlokal nicht so richtig in Schwung kommen. Der Schaden ist nun einmal da, wir müssen mit den Konsequenzen leben. Die Umsätze haben sich in den letzten Monaten eindeutig Richtung Online Shop verschoben.
Ähnlich wie die Marvel Comics zu bedeutungslosen Werbeträgern des Vermarktungs-Einheitsbreis à la Disney degradiert wurden, steht das Amazing Ladenlokal da. Es hat seine Berechtigung noch als Flaggschiff und Aushängeschild und wird auch in Zukunft noch bestehen bleiben, aber das wirkliche Geschäft findet inzwischen virtuell auf der Online Seite statt.
Wie geht’s weiter?
AMAZING gehört jetzt der Amazing Enterprise AG. Mit neuer Firma ändert sich natürlich auch … rein gar nichts. Bleibt alles beim Alten. Nach wie vor ist Amazing ein Familienbetrieb bestehend aus meinem Sohn Thomas, dem Sparkojoten, er ist der Kopf hinter dem Business und der Trading Cards Experte mit dem guten Riecher für lukrative Produkte.
Meine Frau Caroline ist die akribische Buchhalterin, die dafür sorgt, dass die Zahlen stimmen und das Finanzamt zufrieden ist. Und ich bleibe natürlich weiterhin Euer freundliche Sammlerfreund Captain Collector, der auf diesem Blog sporadisch seinen philosophischen (oder auch gar nicht philosophischen) Senf zu den unterschiedlichsten Themen geben wird. Und das immer ganz subjektiv.
Mein ganz persönlicher Tipp für 2021: Kauft Comics, die Euch Freude bereiten. Haltet gleichzeitig aber auch ein Augenmerk darauf, was trendig ist. Es könnten sich darunter künftige Schätze verbergen.
