Galaga - NES

Galaga is a vertical arcade shooter by Namco. You control a fighter spaceship at the bottom of the screen and scroll left and right to avoid incoming bombs and kamikaze attacks from alien invaders – and fire your own missiles to strike back! There are an infinite number of levels for you to progress through. Every third level is a "Challenge Stage" where you have the opportunity to shoot down as many aliens as possible and collect bonus points. Certain aliens have tractor beams that can capture one of your ships. If it wasn't your last "life", you can try to shoot down that alien and reclaim your ship, giving you two ships at once and doubling your firepower. At the end of the game, an overview screen appears showing both your final score and your "hit rate" – the number of missiles fired, enemies destroyed and the percentage of shots that hit their target.
