Yakuza: Dead Souls - Boxed - PS3

Yakuza: Dead Souls is the sequel to Yakuza 4, set a year later, but with a significantly more fantastical premise. The game also features a radically new combat engine, as the living dead can easily block kicks and punches. Each character can equip up to four weapons at once, ranging from pistols with unlimited ammo to sweeping shotguns, powerful anti-tank rifles, and incendiary grenades. In the quarantine zones of Kamurocho, the player can be overrun by zombies at any time, with more than twenty attacking at once. Besides the zombies, the player also encounters mutants, such as the fast and agile Monkeyboy or the zombie-summoning Cry Baby, who are stronger and require different tactics. Even more dangerous prototypes will appear as boss enemies as the story progresses.

As in previous Yakuza games, there are often side stories between the main missions. The quarantine has upended the lives of many people, and they need help returning to the infected areas to rescue someone or take care of business. A new feature in Dead Souls is the perfect partners system, as some of these people in need permanently join the protagonists, entering the quarantine zone when called and levelling up alongside them, gaining new abilities. Most of the mini-games from previous Yakuza titles, such as restaurants, hostess bars, fight cages, crane games and much more, are all present. The Colosseum does not return; instead, there is the Subterreania, a randomly generated dungeon full of enemies that rewards the player the deeper they go.
