Description
WRC 3 is the official rally game for the FIA World Rally Championship 2012, featuring licensed cars, tracks and drivers. The game consists of three main modes: WRC Experience, Road to Glory and Multiplayer.

In WRC Experience mode, the player can choose to drive a single stage, take part in a single rally (consisting of 6 special stages and a Super Special in some countries), or try their hand at the championship. In Championship mode, the player can choose a car from one of 3 categories (WRC, Class 2 or Class 3), then select a driving team from a list of real teams to control. The player can also configure their championship, which can consist of up to 13 rally events in different countries with varying climate conditions and road types.

Road to Glory is essentially the career mode. The premise is that 7 drivers from around the world are chosen to take part in an ultimate competition to decide who will become the next rising rally star. The player is one of these drivers. They must beat the other drivers in their respective countries (divided into 7 geographic regions) and then finally face real rally drivers in a series of Super Special stages. Alongside the classic rally events, there are competitions to test the player's skills: Drifting, Gate Contest (a mode originally from DiRT 2), rally school, Survival Contest (your car literally falls apart as you race), Top Rally Contest (be fast enough to overtake a helicopter or a glider), and so on.

Each geographic region in Road to Glory mode includes two countries (except for the last region) with unique rally events. These are:* Iberian Region: Portugal and Spain;
  • American Region: Mexico and Argentina;
  • Anglo-Saxon Region: Great Britain (Wales) and Germany;
  • Scandinavian Region: Finland and Sweden;
  • French Region: Monte Carlo and France;
  • Mediterranean Region: Italy and Greece;
  • Pacific Region: New Zealand.

To track the player's progress, Road to Glory mode uses reputation points (shown as stars). Reputation points can be earned in two ways: through good results in rally events and competitions, or by entertaining the audience (e.g. destruction on the track, drifting, jumping, reaching top speed, etc.). These points are used to unlock new events, cars and upgrades. The cars (and modifications) available in "Road to Glory" mode belong to various categories:* WRC: Mini John Cooper Works WRC, Volkswagen Polo R WRC, Ford Fiesta RS WRC, Citroën DS3 WRC;

  • Class 2: Proton Satria Neo S2000, Škoda Fabia S2000, Peugeot 207 S2000, Fiat Abarth Grande Punto S2000, Ford Fiesta S2000;
  • Class 3: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, Subaru Impreza WRX Sti;
  • 2000s: Subaru Impreza WRC 07, Ford Focus WRC, Citroën C4 WRC;
  • 1990s: Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD - '92, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III - '96, Subaru Impreza WRC - '97, Lancia Delta Integrale HF - '91;
  • 1980s: Citroën BX4 TC, Ford RS200, Lancia Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, Renault 5 GT Turbo;
  • 1970s: Peugeot 504, Ford Escort RS 1600;
  • 2WD Pro: Honda Civic R3, Renault Clio R3, Citroën DS3 R3, Suzuki Swift S1600, Citroën C2 S1600;
  • 2WD Rookie: Citroën C2 R2, Ford Fiesta R2, Suzuki Swift Sport (R2), Renault Twingo R2, Ford Fiesta ST.

Cars can be upgraded, repainted and modified. Fine-tuning is possible before every race, but there's also an option to auto-tune the car. When taking part in rally events, the car can be repaired between special stages (within a 60-minute time limit, according to the rules).

The gaming experience is configurable. Various gameplay aspects can be adjusted: driving style, braking and cornering assist, vehicle damage, opponent difficulty, number of rewind options, and so on.
