Description
In the main career mode, the player creates their own character and builds a name for themselves through training sessions and fights. From the main menu, you can schedule fights, complete training sessions or camps, create a schedule, read news and follow the rankings. In the various training sessions, specific skills or attributes can be selected to practise and improve. Characters are defined by general information, one of seven weight classes (with the four main stats Power, Speed, Stamina and Footwork), appearance and martial arts background. The latter include Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Judo, Sambo, Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Fights are divided into three different positions – Standup, Clinch and Ground – with different skills and moves for each position. Winning fights earns you “fight purse”. This currency can be used to sign up for camps where new moves can be learned. Fights are usually over when one player is on the ground and no longer has the strength to defend themselves, and the referee steps in.
Alongside career mode, Title Mode, Title Defense and Ultimate Fights have returned, together with the new Pride Mode. Pride has different round lengths (e.g. a long ten minutes for the first round) and introduces a range of moves not allowed in UFC, such as headbutts and kicks against an opponent while they're on the ground. Pride also features a Grand Prix with multiple fights in one night, where damage carries over. The game has been made more accessible by letting you choose between amateur and pro grappling controls. The former makes ground transitions easier for new players. Other new features and updates include a new submission and stamina system, fighter entrances, damage recovery between rounds, and various new and reworked moves.
The game can be played in multiplayer both locally and online. Additional fighters are made available through DLC and a full season pass, allowing the different versions to be combined. During menus and fights, FMV clips show footage from fights and interviews with real fighters. More
