Description
Cybertron is dying and the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are unable to save it and must do whatever they can to survive by leaving their home and finding a new world to live on. In secret, they have built a massive ship named The Ark and are now preparing it for the journey. Optimus does not know that the Decepticons have learned of their plans and are also planning their own escape. They will try to stop them at every opportunity as both factions fight for their survival.
The game is, like War for Cybertron, a third-person shooter in which the player uses their Transformer to move through the levels and uses their ability to transform into vehicles to advance through the levels as they see fit. Throughout the game, the player can use Energon, which they have collected from defeated enemies. They can spend it at kiosks operated by Teletran 1 and purchase weapons and upgrades. The health system now offers something similar to Halo with regenerating shields, and each Transformer the player uses has special abilities, such as the ability to become invisible (e.g. Jazz), which the player can use to advance through the level.
Unlike War for Cybertron, where the player can choose which side to play, Fall of Cybertron features a single campaign with chapters that tell the story through either the Autobots or the Decepticons and sometimes overlap their encounters. Some of the characters the player can control include Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream and even Grimlock, to name just a few. There is also a multiplayer mode with standard modes Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch as well as Conquest and Capture the Flag with class-based characters that the player can customise by collecting experience points. There is also a "Horde Mode" called Escalation, in which up to four players face waves of increasingly difficult enemies.
