Description
Timpo Arab with Rifle and Scimitar
Figure: Arab with rifle and scimitarManufacturer: Timpo Toys
Year: 1970s
Condition: New
Timpo Arab with rifle and scimitar from the Arabs and Foreign Legionnaires series by Timpo Toys (figure approx. 5cm tall), original from the 1970s in as-new condition. The figure consists of 5 plug-together individual parts (upper body, legs, rifle, scimitar, base plate). The Arabs were produced in Timpo's later period and consisted of fewer individual parts than the earlier figures. They were produced in much smaller numbers than the popular Wild West figures, which is why they are rarer.
Timpos are plug-together toy soldiers made of polyethylene (a soft, flexible plastic) by the company Timpo Toys from the 1960s and 1970s. The figures are approx. 5cm tall and consist of several plug-together individual parts that can be combined and re-plugged with one another. Thanks to the overmoulding process developed in England in the early 1960s, painting the figures became unnecessary. The individual parts were cast from plastic granulate of different colours, layered on top of one another, creating a lifelike level of detail. Timpos are old collectible figures, and yet are usually still relatively affordable.
