Timpo Foreign Legionnaire Officer with Sabre from the Legionnaires/Arabs series by Timpo Toys (approx. 5 cm tall), original from the first half of the 1970s in near-mint condition. The figure consists of 4 stackable individual parts: upper body, legs, sabre, base plate. The Legionnaires date from the late phase of Timpo Toys; the heads are not removable.
Timpos are stackable toy soldiers made of polyethylene (soft, flexible plastic) by the company Timpo Toys from the 1960s and 1970s. The figures are approx. 5 cm tall and consist of several stackable individual parts that can be combined and rearranged with each other. The Overmoulding process, developed in England in the early 1960s, made painting the figures unnecessary. The individual parts were moulded from plastic granulate of different colours on top of each other, creating plastic detail fidelity. Timpos are vintage collectible figures, yet usually relatively inexpensive to acquire.
