Description
The Sims 3: Pets is an adaptation of the PC game The Sims 3: Pets, but unlike that version, it is a standalone release and not an add-on to the original game. Gameplay is similar to the original game, but for the console version it takes place in a new town, Sugar Maple Coast, exclusive to the console version.
The focus of the game is adding pets that Sims can manage. It adds cats and dogs as new playable characters that the user can control, whilst animals such as snakes, hamsters or horses from the PC version are not included. Each pet can be customised in the same way as human Sims and has its own needs, traits and personality. A new puzzle system allows the player to complete quests in the town to discover information about the town's history.
Just like in the console version of The Sims 3, players have access to Karma powers that allow them to manipulate Sims and the environment. With pets, it is possible to transform them into humans, fill all need bars or cause a catastrophe. Kinect support for the Xbox 360 version also allows the user to control certain aspects of the game using voice commands.
