Description
Teslagrad is a side-scrolling platformer with strong puzzle elements. The protagonist is a boy who finds himself inside the mysterious Tesla Tower, which houses fictional technology inspired by the works of the inventor Nikola Tesla. The game communicates without words.
The player moves around inside the tower, which can be explored freely (though, since it is a tower, the general direction is upward and there aren't many branches sideways). To progress, the player must use special abilities to solve puzzles, all of which are based on magnetic fields: many objects have a magnetic field (red or blue); objects of different colours are attracted to each other, while objects of the same colour are repelled. The player has gloves that let them change the polarity of objects. As the game progresses, further abilities and gadgets are acquired, such as a cannon to change polarity at a distance, or a short-range teleport to pass safely through deadly currents. These are used to reach new parts of the tower. The puzzles are mostly embedded in platforming challenges that require pixel-precise jumps and quick reactions. There are also a few boss fights.
