Description
Crash Time 4: The Syndicate is the eighth game based on the German TV series Alarm für Cobra 11. Once again, the player takes on the role of Ben Jäger and Semir Gerkhan to cause plenty of explosions in a city modelled on Cologne. The actual goal is to monitor and neutralise a criminal syndicate that wants to take over the city. The player spends the entire time in their car; even the cutscenes consist only of voiceovers and footage of the vehicle.
The predecessors consisted of a linear series of missions for the player to complete – this instalment is more open-ended. Most of the time is spent driving to checkpoints and randomly generated missions. These usually end in a chase sequence where the player must stop another car by braking it, ramming it or shooting it. In addition, there are around 20 predefined missions that draw on the quirky ideas of the predecessors, such as a course with jump challenges or a full-throttle race through the city centre to collect ransom money.
Faster cars are unlocked through campaign progression or by winning optional racing tournaments.
