Stormrise - boxed - PS3

Stormrise is a real-time strategy game with no base building and a unique perspective. Similar to Tom Clancy's EndWar, the camera always follows a squad. But instead of switching between individual players via voice command, a technology called "Whip Select" comes into play. Holding down a certain button brings up a bar. Moving the bar over a squad's icon and releasing it changes the camera position to that squad, and the player can command that unit using the 3D targeting cursor.

Instead of building a base and producing units there, the player starts the single-player mode with a predefined group of units led by Echelon Commander Geary, and in multiplayer mode with a warp gate. In both modes there are also control points that automatically gather energy once captured. This energy is needed to call in reinforcements across three tiers, upgrade units, or equip the control point with turrets, shields and so on. It's even possible to build a second warp gate at the control point, allowing the player to bring reinforcements closer to the front line.

Most of the nine available units on each side gain access to alternative weapons, such as flamethrowers, and additional offensive and defensive tactics, either from the start or after being upgraded. The player can change a unit's current loadout at any time using a circular menu that appears after pressing a button.
