Product information "Star Wars Yoda Stories - Game Boy Color - DE"
Star Wars: Yoda Stories is the second game in LucasArts' Desktop Adventures series, designed as infinitely repeatable action/puzzle games for short play sessions. The player takes control of Luke Skywalker, who experiences short adventures with each new playthrough, drawn from the plot of the first three Star Wars films (Episodes IV, V, and VI). The game begins on Dagobah, where the player must find Yoda to receive a randomly generated mission on a desert, snow, or forest planet (or moon). Missions vary from rescuing kidnapped allies to destroying imperial bases to searching for lost artefacts. Since the game's story and puzzle design are based on trading or using multiple item chains, Yoda always gives the player a single item at the beginning. R2-D2 can also be collected on Dagobah and can be used as a tooltip hint activator by dragging it over any item or tile on the screen. After receiving the mission, the player can fly Luke's X-Wing back and forth between Dagobah and the target planet. While exploring the world, the player encounters friendly NPCs who give tips or trade for items, houses that can be entered, and items scattered throughout the world. The world is also full of hazards. The player starts with a lightsabre, which, when equipped, can be used to defeat Imperial troops, Tusken Raiders, or deadly creatures. Enemies can drop blasters, rifles, or thermal detonators that the player can use for ranged combat, or rations and medical kits to heal. The generated worlds can be quite large and full of secrets, and are divided into different key areas, such as spaceports where the player can be healed by medical droids, puzzle areas where new items can be found, blockades that require items or puzzles to be solved, and teleporters that allow the player to quickly traverse the world map once the valuable item Locator has been found, which displays the world map. The Locator also marks areas as either solved or unsolved, making it a valuable item. The player can manipulate the game world to a limited extent by dragging or pushing certain blocks, blasting blockades, using the Force to move items, or even solving small keystroke puzzles. The game is played with mouse control: moving the mouse pointer with the left mouse button held down moves Luke, while items and weapons are used by placing the desired item in the active item slot and pressing the right mouse button. Alternatively, the player can use the arrow keys to move and the spacebar to use the item. The Shift key can be used to drag movable items around. The player can create an unlimited number of save files at any time, restart the currently created world at any time if it's still loaded (e.g. during the game over screen), and create a new world at any time, and even change the world generator to create either small, medium, or large worlds. The player can also change the difficulty of combat and game speed in the options. In the original Windows version, the game CD also includes Star Wars: Making Magic, an interactive behind-the-scenes look at the production of the Star Wars Special Edition.
