Description
Sonic Unleashed is a combination of two types of games: during the day, Sonic is his normal self, with intense, speed-based levels reminiscent of his original games. When night falls, Sonic transforms into a monstrous yet powerful "Werehog" with stretchy arms. In the night-time levels, he must fight his way through 3D environments teeming with Dark Gaia's minions.
As players defeat enemies in both types of levels, they collect experience that allows them to improve both Sonic's normal abilities and Werehog skills, such as speed, strength, health, combat and more. Additionally, there are 3D hub worlds that can be explored both day and night, with different events occurring in each world. Sonic can help the residents of the city with tasks to obtain items and rewards, or shop in stores using the rings he has collected in the levels.
Sonic's buddy Tails also makes an appearance in levels where they fly his plane. In these sections, you must press the corresponding button sequences as they appear to shoot down oncoming enemies.
