Skylanders: Trap Team - Boxed - PS3

Skylanders: Trap Team is the fourth game in the Skylanders series. It introduces the new concept of capturing enemies in trap toys, allowing the player to switch between the Skylanders and the villain characters. The hub of the game is the Skylanders Academy, from which the player can access the story levels, the arenas and the Kaos Doom Challenges. The story levels play out as in the previous games and consist of platforming with puzzle solving and item collecting. The Elemental Gate returns, but can now only be entered by the Trap Master Skylanders of the corresponding element. The Trap Masters can also break Traptanium crystals to obtain loot or reveal hidden areas. Once defeated, some special enemies can be captured in traps of the corresponding element, which are placed in the new Traptanium Portal, and used as a playable character. While in the trap in the Traptanium Portal, the villains talk to the player via a speaker in the portal. Each villain has a special task that grants them a special power. They can be transferred from the traps to the villain vault in the Skylanders Academy and vice versa. A new type of Skylander, the Minis (Skylanders from an alternate mini universe), are playable as fully fledged characters, unlike their sidekicks from the previous games.

The Kaos Doom Challenges consist of tower defence levels in which the Skylanders must stop Kaos' minions from destroying a treasure chest. To stop the enemies, the Skylanders can build defence mechanisms that attack and receive an upgrade for each enemy wave defeated, provided they are not destroyed. These levels reward the player with various treasures and experience points.
