Skylanders: Giants - Boxed - PS3

Skylanders Giants is the second game in the Skylanders series and the direct sequel to Spyro's Adventure. Kaos, previously defeated by the Skylanders, finds himself in a toy shop on Earth. He finds a portal and returns to an era when the Arkeyans, an evil robot race, ruled Skylands.

As in the previous game, figures are used which, via an accessory called a "Portal", let you take on the role of the character in the game. The original figures are compatible with the game, but new, stronger characters are introduced. One of the new figure types is the eponymous Giants. These are larger than the Skylanders, up to twice the size, and have various in-game abilities, such as picking up large objects and throwing them to clear a path. The character can be swapped at any time by exchanging the figure standing on the portal. The levels consist of platform maps with puzzles, enemies, and breakable objects that yield money and various treasures. Each level has different objectives that must be met to earn a three-star rating. Once the first level is completed, the player gains access to a hub from which levels can be replayed to master them and achieve all objectives. Some treasures reward the player with equipment items that change the appearance of the character and improve their abilities. These changes are encoded into the figure and take effect in other games when the same figure is used; the figures can be reset in the game menu.

A new Battle mode with new arenas and Alter-Ego Skylanders is introduced for multiplayer opponents.
