Description
In shops scattered throughout the city, the player can purchase additional clothing, from underwear to hats, to change not only their appearance but also that of their gang. These clothes are also available in up to six cribs that the player can unlock and purchase throughout the game. In addition to changing appearance, the player can store weapons and cash, withdraw daily earnings, watch cutscenes and much more. You can also change the entire style of the crib and purchase new items like a television that grants additional style points.
Style and respect are, alongside money, the most important currencies in the city. While respect serves to unlock missions and advance the plot, the player's style affects the overall respect modifier and increases the amount of respect earned. As mentioned, style points are earned by improving the character's appearance, home or car. Respect points are instead earned through the many activities and diversions available in the city.
Activities are mini-games that start at one of two specific points in the game world and span six difficulty levels. After completing three levels, the player receives unlocks such as a 5% discount on clothing. In addition to activities already known from Saints Row, Saints Row 2 features six new ones, including "Crowd Control", where the player must protect a VIP from intrusive fans, and "FUZZ", a parody of COPS where the player is followed by a camera crew and must deal with criminals in very creative ways to earn points. Diversions include driving on the wrong side of the street, stunts, poker at the casino, car jacking with multiple occupants and hostage-taking of the occupants, and side missions such as driving a tow truck or taxi driving.
The game also offers multiple multiplayer modes, ranging from a co-op mode for two players to deathmatch for twelve players ("Gangsta Brawl") and team deathmatch ("Team Gangsta Brawl") to a mode called "Strong Arm" where the team that successfully earns CHF 100,000 first wins. This is achieved by winning events based on single-player activities such as racing. Each activity has a time limit and at the end the winner goes home with CHF 10,000. Show more
