Risen 2: Dark Waters [Special Edition] - Boxed - PS3

Risen 2: Dark Waters is an action role-playing game and a direct sequel to Risen. It features the same main character, who is now a member of the Inquisition. The game's plot takes place a few years after the events of the first game in a Caribbean-style pirate world. The gameplay follows more or less the same recipe as all other Piranha Bytes role-playing games since Gothic, with an emphasis on gradual exploration of the world, action-oriented combat and quests.

The game allows the player to explore a world divided into several large islands, which are loaded individually during the game. Not all islands are accessible from the start, but over the course of the story the player can explore all of them. Each island contains wilderness areas and settlements where the protagonist can receive both story-driving and secondary quests. Unlike its predecessors, Risen 2 has little in the way of faction allegiance; there is a divide between the various factions, but the difference between them is no longer as decisive as before. However, the player still has a considerable degree of freedom in accepting or declining quests, some of which may have different outcomes or contradict one another.

New to Piranha Bytes' RPG design is the introduction of verbal skills such as Silver Tongue and Intimidation, which unlock unique responses during conversations once the player has trained the corresponding skill. Experience points are assigned manually by the player to improve the protagonist's main attributes; however, talents and abilities tied to these attributes must be unlocked through paid characters who can train the hero in them. The magic system has been fundamentally reworked: the focus is now on voodoo magic, which deals with mind-controlling spells and curses. Melee combat is now supplemented by firearms: pistols, muskets and so on. The protagonist can equip swords and pistols at the same time; however, pistols require a certain amount of time to cool down after each shot, which can be shortened by increasing the corresponding skill. Sometimes AI-controlled characters join the hero and help him in combat.
