Description
GRID has a career mode called GRID World. Split into the three regions USA, Europe and Japan, the player must earn money and prestige points to move up to a higher licence category, which then grants access to more and tougher racing events. These events are divided into categories such as regular races, drift events, destruction derbies, and even the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

But of course, not every car is suited to every event, so there are several different series to choose from. While the player drives a tuned car for the drift or racing events in Japan, muscle cars await in the destruction derbies in the USA, or Formula 3000 racers in Europe. Every car also handles very differently. Of course, the player must first buy the right car before taking part in a tournament. They can choose whether to buy a brand-new car or look for a solid used one on eBay Motors, which costs less but has already been through a few crashes and might not deliver the best possible performance.

To earn the money to buy a car for an event, the player can take on so-called Driver Offers. These are offers from other racing teams to take part in an event and finish it. There are also bonus objectives like "Finish before Team Top Secret", which earn the player extra money if completed successfully.

In addition to money, the player also earns prestige points. These are needed to unlock the next-higher licence class in the respective country. Of course, tournaments offer far more points than completing driver offers, but the player can also earn a few extra points by adjusting the realism settings before a race. The higher the realism, the greater the points gained upon successfully completing the event. These settings include things like difficulty level, traction control, and the number of flashbacks available to the player during a race. These flashbacks are similar to the Sands of Time from the Prince of Persia series. If the player drifts into the gravel, for example, they can activate the instant replay, rewind time a little, and immediately rejoin the race at that point, trying to avoid the crash. More
