Description
Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 follows the annual sequels of the football franchise and comes with current player transfers for the 2009/2010 season. The game offers many new playing moves and players move slower and more realistically. Even an average player can now hit a lucky shot and score from 40 metres away. Most graphical improvements concern the details of player faces and shadows. Although there are still five difficulty levels, the computer AI acts differently this time and opens up new play possibilities.
There are game modes known from earlier titles in the series, such as Exhibition or Master League, but also some new ones such as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The "Become a Legend" mode introduced in PES 2009 is also available. Apart from the graphics, details have been put into tactics and strategy, where players can be positioned more precisely according to their talent. A completely new feature is the card system, which is tied to the unique abilities of certain players. This gives that player an advantage over their opponent. In earlier titles, certain top players could execute breathtaking moves without the player having control over it. With the card system in PES 2010, the player can now control this directly.
The Master League mode is more detailed and offers sponsors, youth teams and real currencies (including euro, British pound, US dollar or Japanese yen). Money can also be used to pay a scout who takes care of negotiations, physical aspects, the coach and other staff. The Premier League, the Spanish League, the Italian League, the Eredivisie and others are still included, as are the World Cup, the Konami Cup and others, with national teams and league teams largely up to date.
Unlike earlier parts, individual graphic representation of players has disappeared. Whilst it is still possible to see them as part of a whole team, it is no longer possible for individual players. This means you need time to become familiar with them by going through the numerical statistics or checking the compatibility of the player's maximum performance with the position they are in.
The co-op function is at the level of the franchise, with supported player substitution and semi-supported and manual substitution. The manual meaning is complete and the player is only switched when the player determines it, whilst the semi-automatic meaning switches the player to whom a pass is given.
