Description
Mario and his friends are invited to the Star Carnival. Of course they are delighted to participate. Whoever wins the main event, the Star Battle, receives a year's supply of sweets. To win, they must compete against each other through board games. Mario and his friends can also opt for a more traditional party (similar to other Mario Party games). In the first Mario Party game for the Wii, the basic rules are the same: players still compete for stars. However, the minigames have been completely revamped to take advantage of the Wii Remote. For example, in some games, players need to aim at the screen with the Remote to shoot weapons or similar. In other minigames, the motion sensor is used to shake drink cans, saw wooden logs, hammer nails, paint, fly aeroplanes, drive cars, etc. Others are played in a more traditional way by laying the Wii Remote on its side and using the directional pad to move and buttons to perform actions such as jumping and/or hitting. Players can choose between five different modes: Party Tent, Star Battle, Minigames, Extras Zone or Fun Bazaar. In Party Tent mode, players play on boards and have a choice between Battle Royales, Teams or Duels. In a Battle Royale, players compete for stars: the winner is determined by the number of stars and/or coins after a certain number of rounds. In Team Battle, players split into teams. And in a Duel, two players compete against each other. Star Battle is basically a duel on each board against different characters (for one player). The player wins each game board by completing a specific task. For example, on some boards the player must collect as many stars as possible. On other boards, he must reach the star with a certain number of coins.
