Hunted: The Demon's Forge features the elf E'lara and human warrior Caddoc, two mercenaries in a long-standing working relationship. After being hunted by dark visions of demons, they embark on an epic battle to save the world.
The game is designed as a co-op title, which means the two heroes must work together - whilst Caddoc is the specialist in close combat, E'lara is an archer. If needed, both can switch to the other's combat style, but are less effective doing so. Apart from a few co-op puzzles, most time is spent in combat: the characters are controlled directly and must use their abilities, for example Caddoc must block and dodge. Both E'lara and Caddoc have six special attacks (three weapon abilities and three spells), which can be learned and improved by finding crystals.
Weapons and armour wear out over time, and new equipment can be found on weapon racks or in the remains of dead enemies. When the player plays alone, they constantly switch between the two protagonists; the other is controlled by the AI.
