Fix und Foxi was published from 1953 to 1994 and was the ever-present competitor to Micky Maus. The big difference: the Fix und Foxi characters were original German creations, not translations of American and later Italian comics published under licence in German. Rolf Kauka founded his own cosmos of funnies (funny animals) very early on, laying the foundation for a large fan base that flourished above all in the 1960s and 1970s.
