FIFA 16 - PS4

FIFA 16 is the third game for what was then the new console generation of the EA Sports FIFA football series, with feature parity for the PC version, just as in the previous year. The most typical update is the refreshed content for stadiums, teams (both national leagues and national teams) and player statistics. For the first time in the series, women's teams are represented, with twelve national teams. These games can be played in various game modes: offline and online friendlies, as well as a tournament mode based on the FIFA Women's World Cup. Mixed matches are not possible.

The main career mode is updated with a new training mode. It is used to develop players and takes place through skill games, similar to what was introduced with the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. This is encouraged in order to increase a player's transfer value. Before a new season, there is the option to play a European tournament to earn extra starting funds. The well-known Ultimate Team mode has also been updated and focuses on assembling a team using various card decks, which can additionally be supported by optional microtransactions with real money. There are some changes to the user interface and the filter systems for the transfer market. The versions for the various platforms are largely identical. A number of legends (legendary players) for this game mode are exclusive to the Xbox versions, including players such as Deco, Litmanen and Giggs. FUT Draft is a new feature for this mode, being a simplified version of the main game mode, but based on a selection of five players, where team chemistry is equally important.

In terms of gameplay, there are changes to the defensive mechanics, most notably through better positioning of defenders to keep open spaces as small as possible. This can be countered on the offensive side with a "targeted pass", a hard pass that can, in many cases, split the defence, but is difficult for forwards to control. There are new dribbling options, for example feinting a move in a certain direction by using the body to lure a defender in a particular direction.
