Description
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is the sequel to Dragon Ball: Raging Blast, retaining much of the gameplay of its predecessor, consisting of one-on-one battles on a 3D field. Battles can be fought between teams, giving players the option to switch fighters during a match. Every fighter has basic attacks and unique actions (e.g. Frieza's tail attack and Piccolo's stretching arm) that don't consume Ki, as well as Super and Ultimate attacks that do. These special attacks can be customised with new attacks unlocked across the various game modes, giving the player the ability to put together a set of attacks that best suits their playstyle. The fighter can also transform during battle or even fuse with a teammate. "Pursuit attacks" also return from the predecessor, letting the player build a combo across the entire battlefield by knocking the opponent away and teleporting to do the same again before they can land, right up to the finishing blow that slams the opponent into the ground. New to the combat system is the "Raging Soul System", which can be activated once enough Ki has been charged, putting the fighter into Hi-Tension mode. Activating "Raging Soul" opens up new, faster combo possibilities, but at the cost of being unable to perform Super or Ultimate attacks.

As the name suggests, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 draws on the entire Dragon Ball series up to its release, including the films, Original Video Animations (OVA) and the long-running anime series based on Akira Toriyama's original manga. All 43 characters from the predecessor return, joined by 23 new characters, bringing the total to 66. New characters include Tarble, Vegeta's estranged younger brother from the film Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! and Cooler, the villain from the 1991 film Cooler's Revenge. Fusions and transformations bring the total to over 100, allowing for a wide variety of battles, highlighted by the game's main modes: Galaxy Mode and Battle Zone.

Galaxy Mode is the game's story mode, offering a series of challenges for every version of every character. A series of battles rises in "Ultimate" difficulty up to the final battle; these tasks range from defeating a series of opponents while the player character's health drains, to defeating a powerful opponent with 1 HP. Completing stages earns the chosen fighter special attacks or power-ups, as well as bonus items that can be viewed in the gallery, such as artwork. Fully completing a Galaxy for a character earns the player a Dragon Ball; as in the series, seven must be collected before the player can ask Shenron for a wish, rewarding the player with additional unlockable items of their choice. Battle Zones largely serve the same purpose as Galaxy Mode, with the player working their way towards a boss character in each zone. Stamps can be earned by completing specific tasks, such as giving the player character a handicap or refraining from using special attacks, rewarding the player with further bonuses.

A 30-minute bonus OVA is included with the game: Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans. Originally released in 1993, it has been fully re-animated and unlocks the main antagonist Hatchiyack as a playable character.
