Demon's Souls - Boxed - PS3

Demon's Souls is an action RPG in which the player can choose from a variety of starting classes, including Hunter, Knight, Soldier, Priest and Mage. The goal is to traverse five worlds and defeat the demon bosses at the end of each level. Killing enemies earns the player souls, the game's currency. These can be exchanged in the Nexus, the world's central hub, for weapons, spells, miracles, items and equipment, or used to improve the player's stats.

During combat, the player must keep an eye on the protagonist's stamina bar, which decreases with physical actions such as attacking, dodging or blocking. Death doesn't end the game: when the hero dies, he's revived in Soul Form. This means his health points are reduced, but he deals more damage to enemies. Every time the protagonist dies, he loses all souls collected. These can, however, be recovered by touching the spot where the character lost their life.

The game features an online component, allowing players to observe others playing the game in "alternate universes", appearing as white phantoms moving through the level. Locations where players have died are marked and can be viewed as a replay to warn the player of imminent danger. It's also possible to leave messages about dangers, such as strong enemies or traps on the ground, which can be read by other players. Using special items, it's also possible to cooperate with other players or invade their worlds to kill them.
