Defiance [Limited Edition] - Boxed - PS3

Defiance is an MMO third-person shooter set in a persistent universe. It was developed as a companion piece to the SyFy TV series of the same name. The game is set several decades in the future in the San Francisco Bay Area, following a war between the human race and an alien race known as the Votans. With their planet destroyed, the Votans came to Earth hoping to find an empty planet on which to build a new civilisation. Humans and Votans clashed, unleashing an alien force that terraformed the Earth, dramatically transforming its surface. Old species and plants died out, while new ones emerged. The player takes on the role of an "Ark Hunter", hired by a wealthy industrialist to search for hidden alien powers.

Defiance offers advanced character customisation. Players can design everything themselves, from clothing to facial hair. Players also have the option to be a human or an Irathient, a humanoid alien species similar to humans. There is no strict class system; instead, players can choose one of four origins, namely Veteran, Outlaw, Machinist and Survivalist. The origins have no impact on the abilities, weapons or equipment the player can choose, but merely serve as a starting point and background for the character. The game's main feature is Arkfall events, dynamic events in which humans, aliens and monsters compete against each other to obtain valuable alien technology.
