Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat - NES - EN

Danny Sullivan, IndyCar Champion of 1988 and winner of the classic "Spin & Win" Indianapolis 500 in 1985, has lent his name to this Super Sprint style racing game. There are 4 cars in each race, 1 or 2 player options and 9 racing tracks, with the Tradewest Speed Bowl being the ultimate goal. It's much longer, but there are double points (it's essentially a replacement for the licensed Indianapolis 500, which had double the number of IndyCar Championship points for many years). The player has only limited fuel and drives slowly when the supply runs low, and the car can be damaged, though both can be repaired in the pit. The player receives a turbo which he can use sparingly, but which can also be recharged in the pit if he has bought more. After each race the player receives money (somewhat more for a better placement), which he can spend on upgrades such as better performance, brakes or more turbos.
