Assassin's Creed II: Discovery - Nintendo DS - DE

Discovery takes place after Assassin's Creed II and before Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The player takes on the role of Ezio Auditore da Firenze and plays mainly in Spain, where Ezio fights against the Inquisition while trying to free his fellow assassins and foil the Templars' evil plans. The game uses full 3D graphics, but with a fixed camera, so it plays like a side-scrolling platformer. Ezio is as deadly as ever, but his arsenal is limited to his blade and throwing knives. Every mission has a specific mode, which in a way determines how the level should be played. In stealth mode, you may only be spotted by the enemy a certain number of times before you have to restart from the last checkpoint. In chase mode, you must run away or reach a location or a person within a time limit. And in normal mode, you can choose which mission method you want to use. You can run and strike at enemies, or sneak and take them out covertly. Unlike the console versions of the games, "Leap of Faith" is rather limited, and you never actually see the hay you jump into, with most of it happening as a cutscene anyway. But there are hiding spots such as shadows, hay carts, bushes or empty barrels that will help you on your stealth missions. If you approach the enemy from behind, you can take them out with a single strike, but if you prefer a frontal attack, the type of combat depends on your opponent. Stronger enemies can block your attacks, and you must either break through their defence or rely on counterattacks to damage them. Not all moves are available from the start; they are only unlocked as the story progresses.
