Description
2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is a revamped version of FIFA 14, tailored to the World Cup in Brazil. As usual, it's fully licensed and includes all 203 official FIFA national teams, their players, and the real stadiums. The various game modes include the qualifying stage, friendlies, and the World Cup itself. It's also possible to rewrite history and qualify with a team that didn't actually make it to the real World Cup. There's a mode in which you become captain of your country, with a single player progressing through training and matches, competing against other team members to become captain. Road to Rio de Janeiro lets players take part in an online tournament across the 12 host venues of the Cup. There are various Skill Games, and both offline and online multiplayer matches are supported. EA Talk Radio offers a selection of duos commentating on the matches.
Despite borrowing heavily from FIFA 14, there are also a number of changes. For example, there are new and additional animations for the players, and spectators feature various details and attributes related to team and country colours. The appearance of real coaches has been simulated, and the game frequently cuts to scenes of fans celebrating at home. The defensive AI has been made looser, making it easier to break through. Long-range shots are also now much more viable, since the chance of scoring is much higher than usual, leading to more spectacular goals. Goalkeepers, on the other hand, have received a skill boost and will prevent goals from getting out of hand. Taking penalties has been made easier, but goalkeepers have more ways to distract strikers. Scoring from corners has been made harder, as defenders now jump up and prevent attackers from shooting unhindered. The same applies to crosses, which are now intercepted more often, and headers feel less powerful compared to previous titles.
