Tomb of Dracula #69
Comic: Tomb of Dracula #69Language: English
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: April 1979
Condition: Fine Plus, FN+, 6.5
Tomb of Dracula #69 with a classic horror story from the tried-and-tested team of Marv Wolfman (writer), Gene Colan (artist) and Tom Palmer (inker). This issue is the second-to-last of the series and is in good used condition.
The series about the classic vampire based on Bram Stoker's novel was Marvel's direct response to the relaxation of the comics' self-censorship body (Comics Code Authority). Werewolves, monsters and vampires were now allowed again, and monster comics sprouted like weeds from the fertile comic soil of the early 1970s. It was the legendary comic artist Gene Colan who gave Count Dracula his distinctive look and drew him continuously for 70 issues until the series was discontinued. According to Colan himself, the rugged actor Jack Palance (1919-2006) served as the model, with his character face, for the appearance of Marvel's king of the vampires.
