Tomb of Dracula #57
Comic: Tomb of Dracula #57Language: English
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Year: June 1977
Condition: Very Fine, VF, 8.0
Tomb of Dracula #57 with a classic horror story from the proven team of Marv Wolfman (writer), Gene Colan (artist) and Tom Palmer (inker). The issue is in very good condition.
The series about the classic vampire, based on Bram Stoker's novel, was Marvel's direct response to the relaxation of the comics' self-censorship body (Comics Code Authority). Werewolves, monsters and vampires were allowed again, and monster comics sprouted like weeds from the fertile comic soil of the early 1970s. It was the legendary comic artist Gene Colan who gave Count Dracula his distinctive look and drew him continuously for 70 issues until the series ended. According to Colan himself, the angular actor Jack Palance (1919-2006) served as the model for the appearance of Marvel's king of vampires, thanks to his striking face.
